ICAP of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Kenyan Ministry of Health to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at County and Sub County health facilities. 

This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Applications are invited for the following position:

Pharmacy Program Officer

Location: Kisumu with travel to ICAP facilities in Nyanza
 

 

Overall Job Function: Reporting to the Regional Director-Nyanza, the Program Officer-Pharmacy will oversee ART pharmaceutical commodity management systems and pharmacovigilance in ICAP in Nyanza.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement procedures and guidelines on forecasting, storage and stock management, procurement and distribution of drugs at central level in line with national policies
  • Oversee pharmaceutical supply management, including needs estimation, drugs quantification, procurement and distribution systems management
  • Support facilities to develop site specific SOPs for ordering, receiving, storage, issuing and/or dispensing of antiretroviral drugs and drugs for management of opportunistic infections in the supported sites
  • Support facilities to develop SOPs for detecting, reporting, monitoring and management of adverse drug reactions relating to HIV and other related medical conditions
  • Organize and strengthen an elaborate and sustainable pharmacovigilance system within the program
  • Work with the health management teams to support adequate and reliable supply of ARVs, OI drugs and commodities at sites
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized institution. Masters in Public Health will be a desirable advantage
  • At least 3 relevant work experience preferably with the Ministry of Health in Kenya
  • Registered membership by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board is mandatory
  • Experience working in a PEPFAR funded program is desirable
