Job Vacancy: Commercial Director
The Commercial Director will be the key commercial representative of Oxygen8 East Africa in Kenya. 
The Commercial Director position will involve working to manage operations, develop business and increase profitability of Oxygen8 East Africa. 
This job requires someone who enjoys a client facing role and the challenge of growing the business.  
As a Commercial Director, there is also the opportunity to travel and to really get to know the culture of East Africa. 

 

The Commercial Director will report to the Chief Executive Officer. 
The responsibilities will be as follows:
  • The Commercial Director will be responsible for managing all operations within Kenya. This involves taking responsibility for profit, revenue, cash and quality targets.
  • The growth of the customer base of Oxygen8 Kenya through concerted interactions with prospects and conversion of the same.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with board members, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
  • Agreeing annual budgets and producing a detailed annual business operating plan as well as monthly, quarterly or annual targets for revenue, profits and cash.
  • A key part of the role of Commercial Director will be to produce business performance reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Commercial Director is expected to recruit and manage commercial staff, including performance monitoring, and possibly mentoring and training.
  • The role is client facing and so daily contact with clients is an important part of the Commercial Director’s position, therefore the ability to communicate effectively is essential.
  • Identify tradeshows and other business functions to keep abreast of developments in the marketplace, to find potential new business, and to market company’s end-to-end solutions
  • Contribute to the overall business development strategy in conjunction with company directors.
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand existing market penetration and enter new markets
  • Perform benchmarking in designated markets, including competition, strategic intelligence, and market and industry trends
  • Establishing and maintaining key departmental performance indicators
  • Participate in the development of corporate strategies for the long-term prospects of Oxygen8 East Africa.
  • Interactions with local investors and shareholders to establish congruence in strategic goals.
  • Alignment of Oxygen 8 Kenya and East Africa specific objectives with Group ideals.
  • Establishing a business network with key players in the various sectors within which Oxygen8 East Africa is operational.
  • Efficient project management, ensuring establishment and adherence to deadlines and acceptable levels of performance by all key project personnel.
Commercial Director Skills and Qualifications: Commercial Strategy, General Management, Operations, Project Management, Business Development, Networking, Telco specific Industrial experience, VAS, PRSP, Business Management, Training.

Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years’ experience in a commercial position as a Marketing/Commercial Manager, 3 of which should be as a Head of Department
  • A business related Bachelors’ degree in Marketing  
  • An MBA would be an added advantage
  • Preferably belongs to the Chartered Institute of Marketing or any other recognised professional body
  • Must be skilled in networking and demonstrate a credible industrial network
  • Demonstrable experience in market penetration and expansion strategies
  • Excellent leadership/managerial skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Highly knowledgeable in general business operations, marketing, management
  • Experience in Salesforce or any other Customer Relationship Management software will be highly desirable
  • Demonstrable experience in managing a marketing/commercial team
  • Demonstrable experience in pricing/costing of mobile communications products
