Nuru Kenya is looking for a highly-qualified candidate to fill the position of Senior Training Manager (STM) in the Leadership program.  

The position may be staffed internally from Nuru Kenya staff or externally, as determined by the Leadership Program Manager, and in coordination with the Country Director of Nuru International Kenya.

Manager: Leadership Program Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Leadership Program Manager, Leadership Program Specialist and Leadership Program Strategic Advisor to write and facilitate the Leadership curriculum to be delivered to Nuru Kenya staff
  • Conduct research on content to be included into the Leadership training curriculum
  • Ensure that all Leadership curricula are standardized and in line with the Nuru Kenya philosophy, vision, and mission
  • Use computer skills to accomplish tasks in the Leadership program, included but not limited to tracking attendance, typing lessons, conducting research, creating and marking assessments
  • Adapt Leadership trainings in order to improve Leadership training techniques/activities
  • Conduct training needs assessments for all Nuru Kenya programs in order to identify staff training needs and develop a training curriculum based on those needs
  • Mentor, and capacity-build trainers in all Nuru Kenya programs to help them improve their curriculum design skills, training techniques, and facilitation skills through Training of Trainers series and other collaborative forums
  • Work with the Nuru Kenya Monitoring and Evaluation team to gather and evaluate data to better assess the success of the Leadership Program
  • Effectively manage, equip and mentor the Leadership Training Manager II
  • Submit training reports and provide weekly updates with full and accurate information on time to the Program Manager
  • Additional roles as assigned by the manager
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Degree holder in a relevant subjects (such as social sciences and education)
  • Master’s preferred
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet, Google Apps, etc.)
  • At least 2 years of experience training adults
  • Proven track record of writing effective curriculum and facilitating successfully to adult learners
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and equipping trainers to improve their curriculum writing and facilitation skills
  • Speak fluent English (mandatory), Kiswahili (mandatory), basic understanding of Kikuria an advantage
  • Possess knowledge and skills in project management, communications, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in both office and field setting
  • Demonstrated ability to form successful working relationships with other staff
  • Long-term commitment to ending extreme poverty in rural areas of Kenya
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both in an office environment as well as in the field. 
Some work is also expected from the computer at home during evenings and weekends during busier seasons.
