About the Position
The Commercial Vehicle Driver & Mobile Shop Assistant will be one of the founding members of our company’s new team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial driving experience who is looking to expand their skills and take on new challenges by running Nairobi’s first mobile furniture supply shop.
The person in this role will be responsible for operating a small lorry, collecting orders from Watervale’s warehouse and delivering them to our clients courteously and on time. In addition to this, you will pilot a unique mobile shop concept. For 1-3 days each week, you will retail supplies by parking Watervale’s lorry in an area near small furniture workshops. Our goal is to make quality supplies available to these small businesses at affordable prices.
Goals and Responsibilities
- Operate a 3-5 ton lorry
- Collect goods from Watervale’s warehouse and deliver to client workshops
- Manage order documentation, such as delivery notes
- Maintain positive customer relationships when making deliveries
- Unload goods from the lorry
- Operate a “portable shop” out of the lorry in different locations for 1-3 days per week
- Sell goods to customers from small workshops based in the area of the portable shop
- Answer customer’s questions about different products
- Track sales documentation, such as receipts, and reconcile inventory with sales each day
- Valid Class BCE Kenya driver’s license
- A minimum of 3 years lorry driving experience
- Strong professional references available
- Strong customer relations skills
- Strong organizational skills – able to track orders, documents, basic finances, etc.
