Key Result Areas

• Ensuring that pests and diseases of pineapples and other horticultural crops are well managed.
• Designing and execution of research experiments; data collection, collation, analysis and generation of reports using various software tools.
• Development and evaluation of methods for pests and diseases scouting/monitoring and execution of the same.
• Directing operations of the plant clinic; ensure proper pest and diseases diagnosis and reporting.
• Ensuring that the produce meet local and the EU safety standards by ensuring that the pesticides used are duly registered and are diligently used.
• Ensuring worker and environmental safety through training on pesticide safe use and regularly auditing pesticide application procedures.

• A Masters Degree in Crop Protection/Pest Management/Plant Pathology/Entomology or other closely related field.
• A solid understanding of Agronomy and Crop Pests (insects, nematodes, diseases and weeds) and proficient in field and laboratory pest diagnosis.
• Proven technical knowledge and understanding of crop scouting and agricultural research experimentation including efficacy testing.
• Proficient in statistical data analysis.
• Knowledge of local and the EU pest control products regulatory requirements and guidelines.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• A team player with ability to work under pressure, attention to details, problem solving skills, with a high level of accuracy.
