The company wishes to recruit a competent, innovative and self-driven person to fill the following position:
 
Group Financial Controller
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), The Group Financial Controller (GFC) will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities.
As the number-two executive to the CFO, the GFC will be involved in supporting presentations to the board, finance and audit committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team.
The GFC is responsible for the monthly and annual financial and management accounting processes for the Head Office, incorporating several subsidiaries.
The GFC is also responsible for the preparation of the Group’s consolidated management and statutory accounts and appropriate files for the external auditors and will require a detailed understanding of the Group’s financial operations and controls.
The role also involves managing the Finance team based in the Head Office.
In addition, s/he will partner with the CFO, senior leadership, and the human resources (HR) and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.
The role will be regularly reviewed in order to adapt to the needs created by the growth of the business in the next few years.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the payroll process.
  • Assist in the production of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain records of and prepare data for insurance, leases and other external stakeholders.
  • Assist in any tax queries and analysis as necessary.
  • Preparation of consolidated and individual company statutory accounts.
  • Utilize strong accounting, system and business knowledge to ensure that financial, management and ad hoc reports including monthly accounting close activities and variance analyses are adequately and properly prepared, maintained and explained in a timely manner.
  • Possess deep understanding of business drivers and their effect on financial results and provide direction and guidance as to how they are to be reflected on financial statements and analysis.
  • Managing the relationship with the external auditors and the external audit process.
  • Support the CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Coordinate with CFO to review and implement internal controls and changes in accordance with Group Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Effectively participate in cross-functional and group wide initiatives to ensure accounting requirements and financial impacts are identified and communicated.
  • Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Be able to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
  • Agree and monitor clear objectives, task allocation and schedules with individuals in order to achieve the department’s key deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and professional development of the team members and coordinate training activities in line with department and company objectives.
  • Provide direct assistance to the Chief Financial Officer for the completion of ad hoc tasks as requested.
Requirements:
  • ACA – 3 year + PQE, with training from a top accountancy practice
  • Strong financial accounting background with very strong technical accounting experience
  • A proven track record in financial control and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and manage own workload in order to meet tight deadlines
  • A genuine interest in the Hospitality and Logistics sector
  • Strong Excel and IT skills essential
  • Ability to use initiative and creative thinking to anticipate issues and develop common sense, practical solutions
  • Proactive and self-motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Confident and flexible team player
  • A “finisher” with the genuine drive and commitment to produce the highest quality work and to deliver technical expertise at all times.
