Head of Retail Banking Job at Rose Avenue Consultant

Our Client, a commercial Bank is hiring a Branch Manager.

Job Purpose: Drive the bank’s overall Retail strategy on network coordination, products and Branch expansion.

Head of Retail Banking Job Responsibilities 

  • Keep costs to the lowest possible levels while maximising revenues to create an acceptable positive cost / income ratios.
  • Organize marketing activities within the business area in order to maximize an appropriate growth in business
  • Continuously provide a data base of target markets in the country guided by the market graphics/sectors.

Customer Service                    

  • Oversee the implementation of SLA at Department level and see that clients deliverables are meet levels.
  • Provide agreed levels of service within the agreed AT (turnaround times) and SLAs (Service
  • Agreements) of each product, services within each sector.
  • Monitor and review customer service in order to retain and develop an optimum customer base for the Bank.
  • Conduct customer service surveys at department level to ascertain the level of customer satisfaction with the service at Business units.
  • Create a data base of all key Department clients to ensure continuous monthly care calls
  • Managing the Retail Branch network through the Regional Branch Managers to ensure high quality and knowledgeable service levels to exceed customer expectation.

Operational Efficiency                                                               

  • Compliance with internal and external regulatory policies and practices maintaining an appropriate level of risk management within the business area
  • Clean books of accounts in the Branch with strict adherence to reconciliation targets.
  • Zero frauds at the Department – continuously train and sensitize the Department team and make they are alert at all time.
  • Designs and implements commercial policy/strategy of the bank’s Retail business to be implement branches.
  • Ensuring that retail network achieves set targets for PACA Packages
  • Setting up and achievement of the sales objectives for the Retail business

People Management

  • Maintain the appropriate number and calibre human 10% resources in order to deliver exceptional service, achieve targets and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the business area
  • Manage the leave of all staff such that all leave is taken within the year without affecting the Business operations as per policy
  • Building motivated, committed and focused branch teams, consistently delivering creative, precise and customer focused service.
  • Proactively manage the performance of staff in the branch reviewing performance against targets monthly, recognising and celebrating achievements and taking corrective action to address gaps.                                            Manage the disciplinary and grievance procedures at the Department level
  • Provide career guidance that depicts staff upward mobility/ progression.
  • Adhere to HR policies in the management of employees.

Department Administration                                                   

  • Maintain the general image/ ambiance of the Department & that of Branches at acceptable levels
  • Maintain optimal levels of stationary and consumables in the branch, eliminating waste and managing costs.

Qualifications for the Head of Retail Banking Job

  • 7 years’ experience in all-round banking operations, 4 of which should have been in managerial capacity in a similar organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of the local banking industry, banking products, banking services and banking regulations
  • Sound knowledge of general banking law and practices
  • Understanding of Prudential guidelines on KYC
  • Experience in retail lending, preparing and processing credit applications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized accredited University.
  • Relevant professional qualifications e.g. AKIB, CPA, CPS, ACCA is an added advantage.
