PACIS Insurance Company Limited was incorporated in Kenya in October 2004 and is an initiative of the Catholic Church, with a vision to be the icon of reliability and trustworthiness.

In order to serve our growing client base, the company wishes to recruit an experienced, dynamic and innovate individual to fill the following position:

Job Purpose

The job holder will be responsible for evaluation and provide advice to the company regarding, at a minimum technical provisions, premium and pricing activities, and compliance with related statutory and regulatory requirements and analyzing statistical data.

Actuary Officer Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and provide advice on  the company’s actuarial and financial risks;  investment policies and the valuation of assets
  • Prepare and present the company’s solvency position, including a calculation of minimum capital required for regulatory purposes and liability and loss provisions  and the company’s prospective solvency position;
  • Carry out risk assessment on management policies and controls relevant to actuarial matters or the financial condition of the company;
  • Evaluate the distribution of surplus, underwriting policies, effectiveness of reinsurance arrangements;
  • Participate in product development and design, including the terms and conditions of insurance contracts and prepare scenario and sensitivity testing
  • Provide sufficiency and quality of data used in the calculation of technical provisions and
  • risk modeling and use of internal models, where applicable.
  • Prepare reports on any circumstance that may have a material effect on the company from an actuarial perspective
  • Work with IT professionals to develop systems to ensure compliance with the requirements of IRA;
  • Work with relevant departments to develop new financial products.
  • Any other duty assigned from time to time

Actuary Officer Job Qualifications

  • University Degree in Actuarial Science
  • Progress towards attainment of Professional Qualification CII or IIK Diploma
  • Four (4) years’ relevant working experience in a reinsurance environment

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop concept from myriad of data
  • Good statistical knowledge and  financial acumen
  • Good planning and organization skills with the ability to deliver effectively under strict deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of general insurance products
  • Results oriented and self-driven with a proven performance track record
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
