Local Government Assistant Job at One Acre Fund

Job Location: Kisii, Kenya
Reporting To: Government Relations Team Lead

The Government Relations Department is seeking to fill the position of Local Government Assistant (LGA) in order to meet its operational needs. This role involves building effective local government relations like participating in local government meetings, producing and sharing quarterly reports, tracking local government concerns and supporting resolutions to problems that emanate from local governments.

You will play an active role in coordinating our participation in internal and external field events which include input delivery visits, harvest visits and exhibition days, among others. This is a crucial position which will determine how One Acre Fund engages with government and other stakeholders at the local level. Below are more details for this position:

Roles for the Local Government Assistant Job

  • Supporting local government engagement in government units such as sub-location and wards
  • Building ward level contacts : meetings and reports
  • Tracking and participating in resolution of risks and issues affecting field operations
  • Managing sub-location level contacts like chiefs and extension workers
  • Coordinating One Acre Fund’s involvement in agriculture shows, agricultural sector functions and support for field visit logistics
  • Arranging collection and delivery of documents, reports, and invitations to officials and other stakeholders
  • Any other duties as may be assigned to you from time to time

Local Government Assistant Job Requirements

  • Minimum certificate or diploma from a recognized academic institution
  • Public relations, community development and/or agriculture related qualification preferred
  • Computer skills in email, internet usage, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • A willingness to commit to living in Kisii with extensive travels within Rift Valley and Nyanza regions
  • Proven ability to manage local level relationships?
  • Fluent in Swahili and English.
