Workshop Supervisor 
1 Position

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the job holder will be responsible for providing timely and accurate maintenance of company fleet by mobilizing repairs and assigning responsibilities to workshop technicians while ensuring day to day hands on supervision of the workshop team and reporting on tasks progress.
 

Responsibilities:
  • Assigning maintenance instructions to mechanics putting into consideration personal safety and that of colleagues and equipment.
  • Ensuring cleanliness within the work area while maintaining NO SPILL policy for lubricants and petroleum products.
  • Plan and organize preventive maintenance on all company trucks at the prescribed interval and review the same with the workshop manager from time to time to ensure consistency.
  • Control the process of procuring parts for replacement from the stores in liaison with workshop management.
  • In liaison with the workshop Manager, assess and reclaim reusable parts and units to minimize workshop expenditure.
  • Oversee routine vehicle inspection and diagnosis for an efficient and reliable fleet.
  • Regular reporting progress on each job assigned to mechanics and unforeseen delays for quick decision making by management.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by leading on the implementation of Health and Safety policy, systems and procedures in the workshop.
  • Provide hands on technical assistance and expertise when requested by colleagues or management.
  • Carry out regular analysis on all breakdowns, repeat jobs and unit failures and come up with practical remedies in liaison with the workshop manager.
  • Carrying out bi-annual appraisals and regular performance reviews for mechanics.
  • Participate in the evaluation of training needs for the technicians and establish mechanisms to bridge the skills gap either through Coaching or in-house trainings.
  • Preform any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Education, Professional Qualifications & Work experience
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive option) or Craft Certificate in Automotive Engineering.
  • At least 3 years’ work experience in a busy workshop environment.
  • Minimum of KCSE C- (minus).
Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in computerized diagnostic equipment handling.
  • Excellent planning and organizing/work management skills.
  • Attention to detail and results oriented.
  • High Level of integrity.
