Declaration of a Vacancy of the Office of Speaker
Pursuant to Article 78 of the Constitution, Section 7 of the Elections Act Cap 7 on the laws of Kenya, Section 7 A of the County Governments Act and the Nyandarua County Assembly Standing Orders; NOTICE is hereby given to the general public that the office of the Speaker to Nyandarua County Assembly shall fall vacant on the day of the first sitting of the second assembly.
The said sitting shall be held on a day to be gazetted by H.E. the Governor of Nyandarua County within fourteen (14) days upon the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission constituting the full membership of the Assembly in accordance with the relevant and applicable laws.
Accordingly and in anticipation of the said vacancy, the Office of the Clerk hereby invites applications from qualified persons who desire to participate as candidates in the election of the Speaker to the County Assembly which shall be held on the day of the first sitting of the Assembly.
To participate in the election, a person shall make a hand written application to the Office of Clerk supported with curriculum vitae (attaching copies of documents and credentials).
In addition the application must possess the following clearances –
- A clearance from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission certifying that the candidate is eligible for an election as a Member of the County Assembly;
- A current clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority on payment of taxes applicable to the person;
- A clearance from the High Education Loans Board certifying compliance with terms and conditions of the loan or if not a beneficiary, a certificate to that effect;
- A clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau; and
- A clearance from the Criminal Investigation Department (D.C.I) of National Police Service.
- A clearance from the Ethics & Anti -Corruption Commission.
Further to the above,a person who wishes to participate in the election must be nominated by two duly elected Members of the County Assembly.
A nomination form in this respect shall be obtained from the Office of Clerk on any working day and within the official working hours.
All application must be physically delivered to the Office of the Clerk not later than two (2) days to the day of the first sitting of the Assembly.
Those who wish to participate in the election are advised to be vigilant of the Governor’s gazette notice on the day of the first sitting of the County Assembly.
