Our client, Commercial Bank of Africa is a financial services provider licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya to offer financial service solutions and advice through innovative and reliable strategies.
The bank is seeking to recruit a highly ambitious candidate to fill in the following job position in their Nairobi office:

Project Financing Manager – Quantity Surveyor

Reporting to the Head of Property Financing in the Personal Banking Department, the purpose of the role is to grow the mortgage and construction finance book through retail customers, Corporate Schemes, contractors and Developers.

The role will be responsible for the design and implementation of policies and strategies for the property financing products in the bank through conducting regular analysis of the construction and mortgage markets and also guide on products recommendations to the management.
 
These functions will include:
Key Responsibilities & Percentage Time Spent
Business Growth – Provide independent, professional and commercial/technical advice on management of CBA Financed projects and create Partnerships with key stake holders in the real estate sector (40%)
 
Relationship Building – Establish and maintain a strong customer focus approach both with internal and external customers.
Facilitate and develop sound relationships with the Developers, Estate Agents, Valuers, Dealers and Advocates through an effective calling program. (10%)
 
Compliance – Conduct risk assessment and ensure the aim of the projects are met to completion in order to maximize the Bank’s revenue.
Monitor the conveyancing process and perform due diligence checks. (25%)
 
Operational Administration –  Continuously facilitate proficient information and communication distribution to all key stakeholders throughout the decision making process; ensure that service levels, both to external and internal customers, and work processes are maintained and run both efficiently and effectively in line with customer value propositions to achieve business growth and market share targets, risk management and cost management objectives. (25%)

Competence Requirements

  • Professional Qualifications, license and registration with relevant statutory bodies.
  • Program management of affordable housing development, financing, feasibility analysis, real estate development.
  • Knowledge of business practices and finance methods, procedures, practices of housing development.
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and provide effective course of action.
  • A thorough knowledge of Mortgage Banking products and services, and extensive Banking Industry knowledge.
  • A good understanding of risk and compliance management, credit policies and processes, lending criteria and procedures.
  • Understanding the code of banking practice and consumer protection act and how it applies to sales and service.
  • A sound knowledge of insurance/ assurance requirements.
  • Excellent high quality interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relations
  • Natural customer service strength with excellent attitude and behavior.
  • Awareness of external environment and entrepreneurial thinking.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • University Degree – Upper 2nd Class Honors or equivalent
  • 3 years’ experience in project management, including management and prioritizing of multiple tasks
  • Must have had experience in financial institutions
  • Professional Qualifications, license and registration with relevant statutory bodies.
  • Certification in Insurance (COP) will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of the processes and procedures of lending.
  • Ability and Flexibility to travel widely and be accessible to customers from different global time zones.
