Vacancy: Claims Manager

Job Purpose

The Job holder’s overall responsibility is to oversee the activities relating to effective and efficient processing of claims to clients.

The jobholder is expected to demonstrate commitment and loyalty and perform all duties in accordance with the organization’s office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the overall business objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Being responsible for the entire claims department.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain expeditious and efficient processing of claims and ensure customer needs are attended to promptly.
  • Analyze claims data to identify issues, and ensure that all relevant issues and adequately addressed internally or escalated to the client.
  • Set standards (benchmarks) for measuring the performance of strategic customer relationship and communication.
  • Ensuring that all claims received are processed within the shortest time possible.
  • Preparation of weekly claims reports.
  • Identify, appoint and maintain an efficient and effective panel of service providers.
  • Preparation of periodical claims report and other management reports relating to claims.
  • Monitor and review departmental performance.
  • Supervising, appraising, training and development of staff in the department.
  • Liaise with reinsurance department to ensure all recoverable claims are recovered
Job Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
  • A degree from a recognized university
  • 2-3 years working experience in insurance industry, 1 of which should be in a managerial position.
  • In-depth knowledge of claims management.
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication and customer handling skills.
  • Ability to professionally build relationships and good report writing skills.
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty and fairness.
  • High proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision
