The successful candidates will be employed under the KARP project under the current financial year.

Clinic Nurse 

2 Positions (1 Homa Hills, 1 Okiki Amayo)

This position reports to the Project Coordinator in the HIV/AIDS care. You will offer support to the CCC team in the provision of dignified and quality medical care to persons and their families affected by HIV/AIDs.

 

Duties 
  • Assist the HIV clinic team in the daily provision of medical care including provision of Anti retroviral therapy (ART)
  • Perform triage counseling, nutrition counseling and coordinate the scheduling of clients.
  • Flag patients for appropriate laboratory evaluation.
  • Assist other clinic staff with clinic procedures.
  • Interact with ART patients in a clinic setting to encourage adherence with medications and provide counseling and support to HIV patients and their care givers.
  • In collaboration with the community team coordinate community follow up of patients initiated on ART.
  • Collect data appropriately and report accordingly monthly.
  • Participate in community mobilization and education regarding HIV/AIDS, its causes and prevention, treatment, and follow-up of patients in the community for adherence and HBC, and therapy options at CCC level. This task will include organizing seminars, small-groups, and large meetings, mostly in community settings, composed of local leaders and stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all activities to preserve the dignity of all patients.
  • Perform counseling to all clients who require the same and their caregivers.
  • Visit patients and affected families in their home setting to monitor ART adherence, side-effects and OIs. Direct community contact with HIV patients, caregivers and volunteers is the focus of this position. Formal reporting of these activities is required, including completing Home Visit Forms.
  • Train and supervise CHVs and healthcare professionals to assist in the provision of community and HBC to HIV-infected patients. This training will include basic principles of ART, nutrition, and home visitation. Coordinate and participate in Treatment Preparation Seminars (TPS) for patients beginning ART and those on 2nd Line regimen.
  • Mentor new volunteers and nursing aides.
  • Carry out any other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor .
Desired qualifications include;
  • Diploma in KRCHN
  • Has valid license with the Nursing council of Kenya.
  • Knowledge of basic counseling
  • 2 years’ experience
  • Experience in a similar project is an added advantage
Pharmaceutical Technologist (1 Okiki Amayo)

The position assists the HIV/AIDS care and support team in the provision of dignified and quality medical care to persons and their families affected by HIV/AIDS.

Duties

  •  Ensure cleanliness of the Pharmacy.
  • Prepare timely monthly reports to Supply Chain and KARP as required.
  • Prepare drugs consumption reports on a monthly basis for Accountants, and Procurement purposes.
  • Lead in drug Procurement at the appropriate times in a transparent and cost effective manner in liaison with the Enterprise Accountant.
  • Ensure all procured drugs are received appropriately at the Drug store.
  • Ensure and maintain proper records of drug requests and movements from the Drug Store to the Pharmacy and vis versa to other user points
  • Maintain a recommended ratio of procurement, stocks and buffer stock of drugs to ensure continuous supply of this vital commodity.
  • Maintain drugs in the drug store as per required standards.
  • Provide efficient, effective, and customer friendly dispensing services.
  • Offer Post Pharmacy counselling to clients.
  • Ensure client records are filled & entered appropriately.
  • Maintain Drug expiry charts.
  • Liaise with providers of free Anti-malarial drugs, provide documentation and send timely requests to District Pharmacist for restocking.
  • Manage provision of free drugs focusing on vulnerable clients.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Desired qualifications include
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology
  • Registered with the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Basic counseling knowledge
  • 2 years’ experience
  • Experience in a similar project is an added advantage
Social Worker (1 Okiki Amayo)

The position leads and assists the HIV/AIDS care and support team in the provision of dignified and quality medical care to persons and their families affected by HIV/AIDS.

Duties

  • Participate in community mobilization and education regarding HIV/AIDS, its causes and prevention, treatment, and follow-up of patients in the community for adherence and HBC, and therapy options at CCC level. This task will include organizing seminars, small-groups, and large meetings, mostly in community settings, composed of local leaders, government officials, pastors, church members, patients and the community at large.
  • Assist in laying the groundwork for the ARV program and being responsible to the project team for all field activities in the assigned community area.
  • Visit patients and affected families in their home setting to monitor ART adherence, side-effects and OIs. 
  • Direct community contact with HIV patients, caregivers and volunteers is the focus of this position. Formal reporting of these activities is required, including completing Home Visit Forms.
  • Coordinate community follow-up of patients initiated on ARTs by working with community partners, volunteers and other HIV/ART care staff.
  • Conduct TPS and adherence sessions to clients.
  • Plan and conduct Home Testing among client families.
  • Train and supervise CHVs and healthcare professionals to assist in the provision of community and HBC to HIV-infected patients. Such trainings will include basic principles of ART, nutrition, and home visitation.
  • Coordinate and participate in Treatment Preparation Seminars (TPS) for patients beginning ART and those on 2nd Line regimen.
  • Timely reporting in liaison with the Data Team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all activities to preserve the dignity of patients.
  • Your day to day duties will be supervised by the Lead Community Nurse.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Desired qualifications include;
  • Diploma in Social Work or Community Development
  • Basic counseling knowledge
  • Motor bike riding skills a must with a valid driving license
  • 2 years’ experience
  • Experience in a similar project is an added advantage
Data Manager (1 Okiki Amayo)

This position assists the team in collecting and tallying required data for effective management of patients through the IQ care system system.

Duties

  • Data validation on IQCare and excel register sheets
  • Preparing of CDC quarterly report which is sent to Constella Futures
  • Regular data verification
  • Timely reporting of defaulters to the social worker on daily basis
  • Daily update of excel register sheets for patient regimen, CD4 and return dates
  • Involved as a lead member in the QA/QI committee
  • Make orders for medical forms used in the project i.e. Social demographic forms, initial evaluation forms, follow up forms, home visit forms, pharmacy forms and lab forms
  • Prepare and make reports to CRS Nairobi on both monthly and quarterly basis
  • In collaboration with clinicians, pharmacist, assist in tracing of clients’ files through the use of computer
  • Prepare and make reports to NASCOP on a monthly basis
  • Partake of relevant roles of the Lead Data Officer’s in his absence.
  • Your day to day duties will be supervised by the Lead Data Officer
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
Desired qualifications include;
  • Diploma in HMIS or IT
  • Experience with IQ care or HMIS system an added advantage
  • 2 years’ experience

Laboratory Technologist (1 Okiki Amayo)

The position leads and assists the HIV/AIDS care and support team in the provision of diagnostic services to patients being managed in the program.

Duties

  • In charge of developing and managing the Okiki Amayo Health Centre Laboratory.
  • Liaise with the Health Centre team to ensure correct samples are taken and handled as required.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests as required.
  • Ensure confidentiality of the test results.
  • Collect, store and accompany samples for CD4 and other tests to outside labs as may be necessary from time to time.
  • Ensure laboratory machines especially Haematology and Wet Chemistry are in good working order through proper usage and regular servicing.
  • Ensure reagents are procured in time and stored appropriately.
  • Ensure laboratory records are well kept at all times.
  • Ensure the laboratory is in good physical and sanitary order at all times.
  • Be ready to attend continuous professional development training.
  • Promote Health Centre team spirit by being supportive, open and ready to work beyond the call of duty if circumstances demand.
  • Mentor other laboratory staff.
  • Supervise other laboratory staff.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Desired qualifications include;
  • Diploma in Laboratory Technology
  • Registered with KMLTB
  • Basic counseling skills
  • 2 years’ experience
  • Experience in a similar project is an added advantage
