Our client is an award-winning social venture that makes hygienic sanitation accessible and affordable in Africa’s urban slums for everyone, forever.
Our systems-based approach to solving the sanitation crisis involves five key steps: we build a dense network of franchised micro-entrepreneurs, who operate low-cost, high-quality Fresh Life Toilets as small businesses.
We provide critical support services – such as access to finance and aspirational marketing and branding. We collect the waste and safely remove it from the community.
We convert the waste into valuable by-products, such as organic fertilizer and renewable energy. Finally, we sell the byproducts to Kenyan farms. Since November 2011, we have launched nearly 700 Fresh Life Toilets to a network of 332 micro-entrepreneurs.
We have collected and converted over 5000 tons of waste. At the same time, we have built a team of 200 people – 90% Kenyan and 60% from informal settlements
Job Summary: Developing advertising and marketing language for clients’ brands
Role & Responsibilities
- The copywriter will work with the Communications & Marketing teams to handle the brand language for client accounts.
- The copywriter will be required to work primarily on the Fresh Life Refresh campaign to develop copy that is in line with the core message and target audience for below-the-line advertising, which will focus on direct means of communication, like brochures, fliers, and print ads.
- The copywriter will be responsible for generating original copy ideas that grab the attention of the target audience. This will include creating straplines, slogans, body copy, jingles, and scripts.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field
Knowledge and Skills
- A good command for English and Kiswahili, with the ability to write clear and grammatically correct copy in both languages
- Be able to edit and proof read copy
- Be highly creative & imaginative
- Understand the different language styles that appeal to various target markets
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
