The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA) is a State Corporation which was established by the Unclaimed Financial Assets Act No. 40 of 2011 with the primary mandate of receiving unclaimed financial assets from the holders of such assets on behalf of the Government, safeguarding and re-uniting the assets with their rightful owners.
The Authority invites applications from a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the following position:
Reunification Officer

Job Profile: Reporting to the Manager, Unclaimed Financial Assets Line, Reunification officer, will be responsible for the Reunification process and activities for Unclaimed Financial Assets by; reviewing reunification procedures, processes and activities in line with overall Authority’s operations with the aim of increasing the reunification rate as per Authority’s goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for formulating the necessary Reunification steps to ensure compliance with Authority’s Reunification mandate, while protecting the interests and property rights of the beneficiaries of unclaimed financial assets.
He/she will promote and strengthen the unclaimed financial assets administration in order to enhance the reunification of such unclaimed financial assets to the rightful owners and provide a forum for open exchange of information between the Authority, Reunification Agents and other relevant stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for development of procedures for making a claim by persons with interest in any unclaimed financial assets held by the Authority
  • Be responsible for locating and notifying owners of the unclaimed financial assets
  • Formulate processes and procedures of identifying possible reunification agents and approval requirements for the appointment of reunification agents
  • Initiate and participate in Authority’s performance reviews, reunifications improvement processes, as well as undertake special investigations aimed at improving Authority’s Reunification effectiveness
  • Ensure all necessary procedures of reunification are prompt, transparent and user friendly
  • Be responsible for organizing forums to interact and educate holders and beneficiaries of unclaimed financial assets on their duties and obligations to raise public awareness in order to increase the reunification rate
  • Liaising closely with the holders of unclaimed financial assets on the processes to be followed in remitting unclaimed financial assets to the authority and identify areas of improvement in order to increase Reunification rate
  • Arranging for consultative forums between the Authority and authorized Reunification agents so as to have periodic reviews on Reunification processes and procedures aimed at increasing Reunification rate
  • Receiving and safeguarding the beneficiary’s information submitted to the Authority by the holders and Reunification Agents
  • Preparing unclaimed financial assets periodic and annual reports on Reunification status
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Person Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field from a university recognized by the Commission of University Education
  • At least 4 years of experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of unclaimed assets, experience with audit, insurance, compliance and process reviews will be an added advantage
  • Ability to develop and foster client relationships
  • Excellent communication skills
