Opportunity to Excel: Francophone Grant Manager
Our client is a well established international organisation in the field of international philanthropy. It provides charitable entities with strategic advice, and manages the awarding and monitoring of grants to charitable projects.
They have operations in 12 offices, spread over Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, North, Central and South America. It has loo members of staff across the world with a Head office in Europe. 
The organisation is now looking to expand its operations to Kenya.

It is in this regard that the organisation is seeking to recruit a highly driven and results oriented individual to fill the role of Francophone Grant Manager, based in Kenya reporting to the Regional Director who will also be located in Kenya.
 

The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing the grant making programme in DR Congo and Cameroon and occasionally in other French-speaking countries in Africa. 

The incumbent will also advise the organization on projects to fund, liaise with the Africa regional office and global team to monitor and evaluate grants, scope for new grantees and manage existing relationships with grantees. 
This position will also contribute to the development of country-based and regional strategies, budgeting and management of the Francophone portfolio of grantees.
Some of the responsibilities for this position will include:
  • Preparing policy proposals and monitoring partner compliance;
  • Maintaining and developing a value-adding network of advisers, resource persons and partners;
  • Monitoring funded projects, evaluating grants and foundation initiatives;
  • Advising beneficiaries on improving their project organization and outcomes;
  • Working with applicants, grantees and others ¡n the wider community as a resource;
  • Networking with other foundations to establish working relationships;
  • Reporting caseload of grant appeals;
  • Developing reports and providing an assessment of the effectiveness of projects; and
  • Preparing the budget for respective areas and reporting regularly on the allocation of the budget to the Regional Director.
Key qualifications, knowledge and experience required:
  • A Masters in development, philanthropy, social science, law, theology, management or other related field;
  • At least ten (10) years’ professional experience in the field of philanthropy or development in DR Congo and the region, five years of which should be with an international foundation or NGO;
  • Proficient knowledge of development in education, civil society, health, social care, development or church management;
  • Strong financial, analytical, problem solving and project management skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Fluent in written and oral English and French.
