School Principal
Objective:
To provide a challenging, effective, well-rounded educational experience for the students of a boys boarding High school in the outskirts of Nairobi. The School uses the local K.C.S.E curriculum.
Reporting Relationship:
The Principal is responsible for the direction and supervision of all staff at the school and reports to the Director.
Responsibilities And Duties:
- Coordination and supervision of all the school activities , programs and school management team
- Nurture both students and teachers to achieve their greatest potential academically, instructionally and create high morale among staff and students.
- Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school.
- Work with faculty to ensure current innovative educational practice, relevant curriculum content and regular assessment of the educational quality.
- Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of students, employees and visitors.
- Develop school improvement plans with staff that aligns with the schools long and short term goals.
- Use meaningful data and statistics to make informed decisions on school improvement.
- Lead a system of faculty / staff monitoring whereby all teachers receive systematic feedback on their professional performance.
- Promote the use of Information Technology as an essential 21st century learning tool. Effectively use technology for efficient and effective administrative practices.
- Manage the school budget and lead future budget planning.
- Assist in the process of recruiting high quality teachers for the school and organize programs for assistance and orientation for new teachers.
- Develop and implement the school calendar.
- Develop procedures for maintenance and safety of permanent records.
- Coordinate and approve co-curricular activities, field trips, staff development activities, parent/teacher conferences, and other special events.
- Maintain positive, interactive and mutually supportive relationships with staff, parents and entire school community.
- Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school. Conduct meetings, as necessary, for the proper functioning of the school: weekly meetings for full-time staff; monthly staff meetings.
- Communicate with the Board regularly about the needs, successes and general operation of the school
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related discipline preference would be given to candidates with a science background.
- Experience not less than 10 years in a busy school environment and has served as a deputy principal, head of department with direct management responsibility.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
- Computer Literate
- Keen and passionate on extracurricular activities.
