Vacancy: Parts Technician
Department / Project: Logistics
Grade: E Band 3
Advise on use and appropriateness of parts, Maintain records on inventory control system as well as assist in shop floor fleet repair and maintenance.
- Provide prompt, courteous and support to Service Technicians and other agencies who visit the Workshop within Mechanical Services unit in Dadaab.
- Issue parts requested by Technicians, after approval by Workshop Supervisor and authorization by the Supervisor.
- To manage multiple spare parts requests and issue them as per LSOP.
- Ensures proper security of the warehouses by locking and keeping the keys in safe custody and setting fire-fighting equipment at strategic points.
- Determine proper stock levels for commonly used parts and notify Workshop Supervisor to replenish the stock at reorder level.
- Recommend related Parts and Accessories, which may be required for a job or replacement of superseded parts.
- Provide information on cost of spare parts for repair orders while preparing pro former invoice.
- Notify service personnel when special parts or back-ordered parts are received.
- Supervise warehouse cleaner and ensure cleanliness of parts and accessories is done and keep inventory neatly stacked and orderly.
- Facilitate receipts, storage, and issuance of items/commodities as per Logistics Standard Operating Procedures (LSOP) & UNHCR TOR.
- Carry out inspection of warehouses, maintenance and report any needs i.e fumigation and repairs to the immediate supervisor.
- Ensure timely offloading of all UNHCR supplies at the warehouses and update the receiving documents/registers and provide feedback to UNHCR sub office in Dadaab through the Logistics Coordination office.
- Facilitate in receiving and offloading of all CARE (MSU) materials by providing direction on offloading bay and verifying the required specifications of the received goods.
- Conduct monthly stock take of all commodities in the warehouses, and update Commodity Tracking System (CTS).
- Conduct monthly technician tools and maintain a register.
- Carry out a daily reconciliation on issued special tools and equipments.
- Maintaining ledger records and stock/Bin Cards.
- Update daily records of incoming items into the Warehouse
- Preparing precise, analytical and accurate weekly, monthly and yearly stock reports.
- Compile and prepare monthly internal sector update on stocks and submit to Workshop Supervisor.
- Prepare any other report that may be required by the sector.
- Provide monthly reports on stock levels and parts replenishments as necessary.
- Post all receipts and issued items in the commodity tracking system
- Ensure accuracy of data entered in the CTS.
- Liaise with the supervisor for any new spare part to be included in the CTS catalogue.
- Spending Authority: none.
- Supervision: Warehouse Cleaner
- Decision Making: Makes normal decisions within prescribed standards.
- External: UNHCR, WFP and Other IPs with CARE MOU.
- Internal: All CARE staff.
Education: Diploma in Auto / Mechanical Engineering / Technician III or Final Craft.
- Demonstrate relevant experience of at least 3years in a busy motor vehicle workshop or a warehouse facility.
- Working knowledge of logistics and supplies management is an added advantage.
