The office of the Kajiado County Public Service Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per the constitution of Kenya 2010 under Article 176 of the Constitution and the County Government Act No. 17 of 2012 section 45,50 and 51.
 
County Surveyor
Job Group ‘Q’
1 Post
 
Duties and responsibilities:-
  • Carrying out county, national and international boundary and hydrographic surveys
  • Gravity and magnetic analysis
  • Astronomical observation: establishment very long base interferometry (VLBI)
  • Supervising gravity and magnetic control observations and computations
  • Cadastral, adjudication, topographical, sub-divisional schemes, photo control engineering, surveys
  • Carrying out quality control, topographical, engineering cadastral
  • Adjudication and general boundary surveys
  • Maintaining, testing, adjudication and certifying survey equipment
Requirement for appointment
  • Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines; Land surveying and Photogrammetry, Geomatics, Geomatic Engineering, Technology in Geomatics, Technology in Geo-informatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, Philosophy in Technology(Survey) from a recognized institution in Kenya
  • Must have attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized training institution.
  • Affiliate/associate member of the institution of Surveyors of Kenya(ISK)
  • Must have a certificate in computer applications and Geographical Information System (GIS)
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability
  • Satisfy the requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010
County Planner
Job Group ‘Q’

Duties and responsibilities:-
  • Supervise all physical planning activities and continually monitor projects during the construction phase and works directly with the architectural and engineering inspectors to assure that plans and specifications are followed and construction problems are minimized
  • Act as the primary agent for the county in all matters dealing with construction projects, which includes substitutions and changes in the provision of approved specifications
  • Review plans and specifications for wok to be performed by contractor’s to assure that preferred architectural and engineering design features are incorporated, and that preliminary drawing are thoroughly coordinated and reviewed by all involved agents.
  • Prepare integrated land use plans with relevant stakeholders for use by land boards and other allocating authorities
  • Ensure the development and implementation of programs for planned and preventative maintenance of all structural and operating systems involved
  • Ensure that all operations and activities are in compliance with all applicable codes, rules and regulations for fire and building, health and safety
  • Prepare regular and periodic reports
Requirements and competencies for appointment
  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning/ physical planning or urban design from a recognized institution
  • Minimum Seven (7) years experience in physical planning
  • Ability to co-ordinate activities and deliver as per given schedules
  • Proficiency in computer applications and computer aided designs (CAD) or geographical information system (GIS)
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with developers, contractors property owners and the general public
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Satisfy the requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010

  • Clearance certificate from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
