Duty Station: Juba, South Sudan
Position Description
Under the direct supervision of the DCOP or his designee, the Training Engineer will perform the following principal functions:
- Assist in assessing capacity build needs at the State Ministries for Physical Infrastructure, county governments, communities, contractors, and other relevant institutions.
- Assist in developing and implementing training modules on a range of road management and technical engineering capabilities, which will include classroom instruction and significant work in the field.
- Assist in developing and implementing engineering technical and management training programs for local contractors.
- Other duties as assigned by the project management team.
Essential Qualifications:
- 10 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in road engineering work, including experience in designing and implementing training.
- Experience as a Technical Educator would be desirable.
Professional Requirements
- Civil Engineer with an advanced degree would be desirable.
- Fluency in English with strong reading, writing and speaking skills
- Knowledge of road construction techniques.
- Knowledge of labor-based contracting is preferable.
- Operational knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with hand-held GPS units.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of engineering ethical standards
