Vacancy: Field Security Supervisor

Background: We are a leading geophysical services company engaged in seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation for the Oil & Gas industry in Kenya. Our work is in remote parts of the country in the North Eastern and North Western regions.

Job Purpose: Ensure overall security of personnel and equipment in the crew to enable continuance of smooth company operations and achievement of seismic project objectives.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise daily operations together with all associated service company activities on site to achieve the objectives of the company’s seismic programme
  • Coordinate the sourcing and rotation of armed security officers on the project
  • Provide overall supervision and oversight over the contracted armed/unarmed security officers and prepare their timesheet, attendance schedules and travel arrangements
  • Maintain regular liaison with local police and other security agencies in the project area
  • Ensure all armed security officers deployed on the project are well trained in weapon safety and that regular training is conducted
  • Conduct investigations on incidences and submit reports to senior management
  • Provide regular risk assessment for all activities in relation to security requirements and development of the security and emergency response plan
  • Analyze security factors and levels of risk related to safety of staff and make written recommendations for improvements in both physical safety and operational security as well as follow up on recommendations to ensure their implementation
  • Implement the security plan and ensure project assets, personnel and equipment are protected at all times
  • Regular review of the security situation and update of security plan
  • Ensure detailed accurate reporting of all events as required by the company for daily and specific events
  • Ensure daily security situation report is submitted to senior management
  • Provide regular induction, briefs and training on security to all staff and contractors  
  • Ensure regular security control drills are held and that all personnel are familiar with their roles and especially in relation to possible armed attacks
  • Ensure an accurate account is maintained for all personnel on site and daily tickets from Service Companies are maintained up to date for accounting purposes
  • Keep key company staff fully informed of any proposed program change or problem that will result in downtime
  • Ensure that proper log books and records are maintained by security staff
  • Conduct regular checks on technical systems – light, alarms, radios to ensure they are in sound working order
  • Forward daily SITREPS, weekly summaries and monthly briefs on security situation on the crew
  • Forward incident reports on occurrence to the Party Chief and Client representative
  • Ensure that all staff, contractors and casual staff comply with all security procedures in all camps and during field activities
  • Provide regular security alerts to staff on security situations and occurrences on relevant matters in the area of operation
Qualifications and Experience
  • Ex-Military officer at Captain rank and above
  • 5-7 years field experience in the military
  • Experience in security management in seismic or similar projects is highly recommended
