Business Project Engineer

Reports To: Managing Director / CEO
Job Purpose:
Plan, manage and coordinate the daily operations of the Company’s projects and services.
Desired Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate must have a flare for business development and the ability to demonstrate good knowledge of subsea engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, employee supervision and personnel management.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Gross Salary: USD 2,400
Job Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Engage in Business Development for new Clients for all Company’s scope of services and always looking at new opportunities or strategies to develop the Company’s portfolio of Projects.
- Develop strategic plans for all operational activities
- Present Company qualifications for project opportunities and assist in the preparation of proposals and tenders
- Manage client interface and overall relationship with clients.
- In conjunction with the Cost Controller, develop budgets, schedules and profit objectives for projects within requirements of contracts and subject to the approval of Company Management
Operations
- Attend Project and service meetings on behalf of the Company and prepare comprehensive Reports or Minutes on same. Follow up on all issues discussed at the meetings.
- Ensure that Company operations, projects and services are performed in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner remaining aware of schedules, approved budget targets and limits.
- Coordinate Project Mobilization Plans and Project mobilization meetings subject to Management approval.
- Work with Commercial Department to ensure that payments on outstanding invoices are made in a timely manner.
- Ensure that Company equipment and/or spares are sourced and replaced on time.
- Coordinate the sourcing of equipment and spares, following up with the different
Technical
- Ensure that Contractors’ work and products satisfy contractual requirements and adhere to authority requirements.
- Coordinate the follow up of the engineering progress, compliance with Contract requirements as well as coordinate the risk based follow up strategy with the relevant technical disciplines and engineers.
Quality Assurance And Hse Requirements
- Responsibility to comply with and support the QA Management System within own scope of responsibility and within the Company as a whole.
- Responsible for developing, adhering and to modifying procedures and or processes to support the system and its applications within your area of responsibilities.
Safety
- All employees are required at all times to comply with Regulatory requirements and Company Health and Safety Policy which is in line with OHSAS 18001:2007
- Be responsible for own personal safety.
- Responsibility to ensure that both you and your colleagues work in a safe environment including the use of PPE as provided.
Enviromental
- All employees are required to conduct themselves in a manner which will enhance the companies standing with regard to its commitment to the environment and support the environmental management systems in place and operating in compliance with ISO 14001:2004
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Graduate with Mechanical engineering background;
- Strong Business Development and Project Management skills.
- Must be flexible and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Should be competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and smaller projects;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
- Excellent MS Office skills.
