Director of Safety Job at AirTraffic Ltd in Kenya April 2014

 

AirTraffic Ltd is a leading aviation company based out Nairobi’s Wilson airport with a regional network of high net worth clients, seeks to recruit for the position of Director of Safety.
The individual should be a responsible, energetic, proactive and honest person who should be able to work well under the demanding aviation environment.

The applicant must possess the following qualifications as a minimum:
  • Possess a university degree,
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience in aircraft experience as an AME or in FLT ops, and
  • Must have successfully completed training in safety management systems (SMS) course recognised by the KCAA.

Reporting to the accountable manager, the duties and responsibilities are:

  • Program leadership during implementation of the SMS
  • Provide information and advice on safety matters to top management
  • Provide support and consultation on safety management to all departments
  • Develop and maintain specific SMS guidance material and/or requirements
  • Conduct the day to day activities associated with the SMS
  • Operate the voluntary employee reporting system
  • Approve safety risk management documents as delegated
  • Safety planning and monitoring
  • Secretary to the Safety Committee
  • Serve as the liaison to our oversight authority on safety issues
  • Arrange safety training for all employees as described in the Operations manual,
  • Keep records of all safety related reports, incidents and accidents,
  • Conduct safety audits of all departments in our organization
  • Investigate incidents and accidents,
  • Conduct periodic audits of the SMS, operations, equipment and facilities of sub-concessions and sub-contractors,
  • Conduct periodic observations and inspections of safety practices of all company operations, equipment and facilities, and
  • Prepare and pass all external audits requested by regulatory authorities and clients with an emphasis on BARS and OGP audits.
