Security Systems Installation and Maintenance Technician Jobs Opportunity in Kenya 2013
Our client, a construction company with operations in Kenya and Somali is seeking applications from qualified Kenyans to fill the position of Security Systems Installation and Maintenance Technician.
The successful candidate must be able to install and troubleshoot complex technical and physical buildings security systems.
She/he will be responsible for the tasks associated with the design, installation, upgrade and repair of building security systems.
The Technician will use communication, technical knowledge, problem solving and sales skills to deliver the highest level of customer service.
The position reports to the Managing Director, based in Nairobi with frequent travel to project sites.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Gathering, documenting and analyzing buildings security system installation requirements.
- Preparing description of project works, material schedules, and cost estimates.
- Runs and installs wire, read blueprints, mount system panels and devices, and wire circuit and electrical connections for access control, CCTV and intrusion detection systems etc
- Ensures all installations adhere to the customer’s specifications, the National Electrical Code application guidelines and government standards.
- Verifies security system /equipment functionality by testing equipment, connections, and signals; identifying and correcting problems
- Training end users on system features and upgrades
- Maintains records by documenting installation and maintenance
- Maintains safe and secure work environment by following safe practices.
- Occasionally supervise lower level installation technicians.
- Any other related duties assigned by the MD.
Requirements:
- At least diploma level training in the relevant field
- Certified or trained in Security Systems/Card Access/CCTV added advantage
- At least three years hands-on work experience in security system installation and electrical construction.
- Experience with electronic security systems.
- Experience in both installation & service is a plus
- Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and associated engineering and shop drawings.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the International Building Code
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
