Responsibilities and Duties

  • The sales specialist is accountable for growing revenue and market share by proactively developing and deploying domain-based sales strategies in collaboration with account management and utilising his or her specialist knowledge to deliver gross sales.
  • The primary focus of this role is on opening up new business through domain expertise and value based selling, both within existing accounts and new customers across the assigned territory.
  • He or she may also assist in key retention situations as required.
  • The sales specialist also represents the voice of the customer back into the business, helping to inform and refine business strategy.
  • Sells set of products and solutions, delivering recurring and outright revenue in the assigned market segment, domain and territory
  • Secures liquidity and usage growth on selected products and generates new opportunities
  • Identify and convert prospects and develop opportunities and leads provided by other sources
  • Provide domain expertise relative to the customer segment (expert in markets-based product knowledge) through the entire pre-sales, sales and post-sales process. Acts as product champion for the specific domain.
  • Gathers feedback from and supports the customer with any domain or workflow specific queries during initial consultation, trial, set up and conversion.
  • Ensures the effective handover of accounts to the account management team once customers are effectively using the products.
  • Maintains accurate customer contact and opportunity data in the appropriate Client Relationship Management systems.
  • Develops innovative cross-channel approaches to customer problems, building on expert knowledge of client needs and potential solutions.
  • Coordinates closely with regional account teams, new business leads, client specialists and product and business managers across the organization.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven success in a sales role with over 5 years experience is mandatory.
  • 3 to 5 years experience within a financial institution is strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of financial markets with an emphasis on the specialist asset class for this role.
  • Excellent presentation and consultative selling skills
  • Strong networks within the financial industry, and the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Driven, confident, outgoing and trustworthy personality
  • Available to travel throughout Sub Saharan Africa as needed, more than 50% of the time
