Oncology Program Pediatrician Jobs at Partners In Health In Rwanda November 2013

Partners In Health/Inshuti Mu Buzima is a Harvard-affiliated international NGO that has partnered with the Government of Rwanda to strengthen the health system and support poverty reduction initiatives in rural Rwanda since 2005.

PIH/IMB is seeking outstanding candidates for the following positions. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.

Position Title: Oncology Program Pediatrician
Reports to: IMB NCD Program Director, IMB Butaro District Clinical Director, Butaro Hospital Medical Director
Location: Butaro, Burera District

This position serves as clinical lead in provision of care for pediatric cancer patients at Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence at Butaro District Hospital, training and mentoring of staff at Butaro Hospital in care for pediatric cancer patients, and guidance for clinical management of pediatric cancer patients at Rwinkwavu District Hospital. Additionally, this position will guide implementation of cancer services (including pathology and pharmacy support), training, medical record documentation, data quality, and protocol and curriculum development. This position will be seconded to Butaro District Hospital for clinical duties, and work closely with the Ministry of Health, Rwanda Biomedical Center, and other key implementation partners in non-communicable diseases in Rwanda. This position will receive continuous mentorship and training from international experts in oncology and pediatrics and participate in operational research, including opportunities for attendance of international cancer-related conferences and meetings.

Requirements for the position:

– Medical Degree, with post-graduate training and board certification in Pediatrics
– Highly motivated to play a leadership role in cancer care at Butaro Hospital and at IMB in cross-sites scope
– Understands and upholds principles of equity and alignment with national priorities in provision of cancer care in Rwanda
– Highly organized and able to keep track of multiple administrative and clinical tasks simultaneously
– Strong management, communication, mentoring, teaching and leadership skills. Ability to work well with diverse team and exhibit humility, respect and team spirit
– Strong clinical skills and interest in developing knowledge in clinical oncology
– Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency in Kinyarwanda is highly desired.
