Role Summary: NOC Engineer is responsible for maintaining the Enterprise Network ensuring that it is up and running as well as ensuring that customers are constantly connected.
Key Responsibilities
- The maintenance of the Enterprise Network (Enterprise Edge and Aggregation)
- Ensure that Service Level Agreements are met for all Services
- Ensure system and service availability of the network on 24/7 basis
- Manage network fault and 2nd level escalations
- Ensure optimum performance of the network at all times with KPIs met
- Ascertain that acceptance tests are efficiently carried out and handover circuits to operations and business partners.
- Monitor and report service level status on a weekly and monthly basis.
Education and Work Requirements
- Must have at least CCNA Certification.
- Understanding of ISP Core Network Architecture.
- Excellent practical experience of network monitoring and use of monitoring tools available.
- Hands on experience in IP Service Level Agreement deployment in CISCO environment will be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of MPLS and QoS is required.
- Knowledge of network management and monitoring tools (e.g. Orion Net Solar-Winds, HP Open-View NMS, Cisco LMS/ISC, Ethereal, Cacti).
- High level understanding of multi-services platforms, routing protocols ISIS/RIP/RSVP/OSPF/BGP/iBGP/ and troubleshooting down to packet level.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in direct Network Engineering/Network Support in a Service Provider environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering or other relevant discipline.
