The US Embassy is seeking an individual for the position of Public Health Specialist- Implementation Science at the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC).

Basic Function of Position

The primary function of this position is to guide the development, implementation and dissemination of CDC/PEPFAR supported research

and evaluation in HIV/AIDs epidemiologic studies, in the program areas of Care and Treatment (C&T) and Human and Institutional Capacity Building (HICB) by providing scientific technical support to produce a high quality, high impact scientific portfolio. As part of this work, the scientist will build capacity in research skills within PEPFAR/CDC Tanzania, Government and local partners, working with other members of the science office team and using one to one mentorship and other training techniques, to ensure stronger science skills are developed in-country. Furthermore the role involves developing and refining the portfolio of science projects undertaken by these program areas by working with relevant Branch Chiefs and Program Officers to continuously assess progress and strategic direction and provide advice to Senior Management to achieve a well-balanced, timely, and strategic range of scientific activities. The position also involves secondary mentorship of a Science Office Fellow within the same program areas through regular meetings and day to day support to create a supportive learning environment for the trainee.
