An animal production farm located in Siaya has a vacancy for a Farm Manager Position.
Duties
- Breeding and maintenance of animals
- Checking and recording environmental parameters and general condition of animals i.e. identify changes in animal behavior or medical status.
- Must communicate effectively and efficiently with other staff members as well as other relevant stake holders.
- This position involves substantial animal husbandry responsibilities, limited basic medical work, and some administrative duties (record keeping).
- Cleaning the enclosure and other enrichment activities for the animals.
- You will also be required to work with and mentor interns.
- Must have the ability to follow directions and ensure that the general appearance of the farm is upheld in a manner befitting an animal production farm.
Qualifications
- The farm manager must possess a post secondary qualification in Animal Husbandry.
- Diploma in Animal Health Management or Animal Health and Production or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of three years’ experience working with small animals e.g. rabbit is a plus.
- Ability to communicate in English, Kiswahili Luo/Luyah
- Must be able to move/lift 50 to 75 pounds; to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and to work with a variety of equine breeds and temperaments.
- Applicants should possess a strong personal work ethic and a high level of integrity.
Skills
- Computer literate MS Word, Excel, Power Point and general internet search
- Ability to ride a motorcycle is a plus.
