Background: The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is an International Baccalaureate World School which seeks to provide students of all backgrounds from primary to higher secondary with an education of the highest standard in order to prepare them for lives characterised by leadership and service.
We invite applications for the following positions at the Academy:
 
Facilities Manager

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Heading a team of thirteen staff, the Facilities Manager will ensure the facilities of the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa are maintained in excellent condition.
S/he will oversee the maintenance and repair of the buildings and machinery and equipment, and ensure proper functioning of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • A relevant trade qualification, preferably in Engineering
  • Experience of managing personnel from the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and mechanical
  • Relevant training in Health Safety and Environment policies and procedures
  • A minimum 7 years maintenance experience within a multi-purpose facility environment, preferably the hospitality industry
  • A focus on root cause analysis and quality control
  • A keen eye on detail and high standards of quality of work performed
  • A positive attitude to solving complex problems and coming up with practical solutions
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills
Dining and Food Service Manager
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Supported by a robust team consisting of a Head Chef, Cooks and Stewards, the Dining and Food Service Manager will ensure that food and service delivery for both routine dining as well as dining events at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa surpass the expectations of the customers.
 
Qualifications & Experience:
  • A relevant catering qualification
  • A minimum 7 years food service experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
  • A focus and demonstrable experience of active control of food costs
  • Food safety qualifications including HACCP training
  • A passion for excellence in food service
  • A proactive manager, who ¡s also willing to be a team player
  • A thorough knowledge of cooking procedures, equipment in a well kitted kitchen, recipes and health and safety procedures
  • Experience of managing personnel — both professional cooks as well as cleaning staff
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills
