Multi Lab Manager for Consumer Testing Services
 

Reporting To: Operations Director

Department: Laboratory

Approved By: Managing Director

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the day to day performance of the multi lab operations delivering a  cost effective, process efficient and timely output in support of clients and achieving company operating expense goals
  • Evaluates, develops and implements multi lab process and system improvement initiatives to include industry best practices
  • Responsible for the development and performance of multi laboratory personnel.  Staffs and directs the team and provides leadership towards achieving team goals, financial targets and company mission and values.
  • Responsible for developing effective, professional work relationship, integration and utilization of the lab team with CTS sales, client services and global operations. Is a member of the operations management team
Specifically these Responsibilities are to:
  • Manages the planning and scheduling of the multi lab operations and output through staff and equipment utilization and operational excellence to include TAT and quality of service.
  • Manage multi lab productivity and performance achieving operating expense budget targets and other KPI’s as assigned
  • Work closely with the team to ensure the following: the operations’ compliance and prompt response to client programs or inquiries, order status, department work load, capabilities and report content for jobs initiated by staff or team.
  • Responsible for preparation and distribution of consolidated monthly and weekly reporting process for management, financial reporting and any other company communications processes as required.
  • Manage multi lab compliance with safety initiatives and enforcement, calibration program, internal quality audits, preventative maintenance, KPI metrics, purchasing and any other projects as needed by the operations
  • Coordinate and confer with CTS staff to resolve operating problems and deliverables.
  • Coordinates development and implementation of internal audit and management review procedures and monitors compliance with internal company QA, trade or industry association or accreditation requirements
  • Manage the implementation of multi laboratory operations guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations, and monitors compliance. Responsible for training and continuous improvement to specific services and company related practices, procedures and policies.
  • Represents management in the resolution of client complaints, legal claims as required.  Escalates matters accordingly.
  • Conducts one-on-one review with all staff to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide for the improvement of client services staff and performance.
  • Supports and meets assigned team goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) as defined by management.
  • Coordinates field staff to ensure that they are adequately equipped to perform required tasks.
  • Maintain and build collaborative relationships with all CTS sales and client services group.
  • Other duties assigned as necessary in response to business needs.
Profile:
  • Experience managing a diversified professional laboratory environment
  • Background in retail consumer product quality assurance concepts
  • Proficient in managing a laboratory environment and implementing good laboratory practices.
  • Maintains contact with industry to maintain operational competitiveness in the market place
  • Creative thinking skills to develop innovative solutions to solve operational requirements and needs
  • Intimate knowledge of client CTS’ services, products and other global client  business lines
  • Ability to interface with supply chain senior managers and other customer structures
  • Ability to establish effective working collaborative team relationships with CTS sales and client services staff
  • Develops motivated high performance teams, coaches and mentors for succession and growth
  • Delegates’ authority and responsibility with accountability and follow-up.
  • Sets examples for staff in areas of personal character, commitment, organizational skills, and work habits.
  • Conducts regular coaching and counseling with staff to build motivation and customer service skills.

  • Strong analytical skills to  identify trends in laboratory proficiencies and competencies to align with client CTS services
  • International business exposure in imported consumer products
  • Strong people leadership skills to develop and drive performance teams
  • Well organized, efficient with proven follow through skills
  • Proven analytical and problem solving abilities
  • University graduate or equivalent educational background
  • 8+ years of commercial laboratory experience in a multinational organization
  • Strong written and spoken English skills, other languages will be an advantage
  • Persuasive, diplomatic, but always to the point and a strong ability to sell a concept.
  • Hands-on, open-minded, proactive team player
  • Computer literacy (creating, filing, saving/uploading, searching, backup, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Travel Requirements: Per needs.
