HR & Training Assistant Director and Case Officer Job vacancies at Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) 2013

 

Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) is a regulatory statutory organization of the Government of Kenya established vide the KENAS order, Legal Notice No. 55/2009 as the sole National Accreditation Body (NAB) for Kenya.
The Service seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced individuals to fill the following positions within KENAS.
 
Assistant Director – Human Resource & Training

KENAS-ADHRT-01 – JG KENAS/4 (1 Post)

Job Description Position Summary:

In a team based environment, the Assistant Director, Human Resource & Training will report to the Deputy Director, Finance and Administration Department and has overall responsibility of Identifying and implementing strategies that benefit HR &Training, in order to achieve the objectives of KENAS while ensuring compliance with all relevant and necessary regulations.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Head the Human Resource and Training division.
  • Advice management on HR and training issues.
  • Manage and develop the human resources of the organization.
  • Prepare human resources strategic plans aligned to KENAS establishment and government guidelines.
  • Prepare and implement training strategic plans to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Develop, direct and control implementation of staff policies, systems and procedures.
  • Preparing staffing annual operating and capital budgets
  • Regularly report on human and training positions.
  • Oversee the staff medical scheme and pension scheme.
  • Oversee the staff welfare issues
  • Oversee the staff induction, placement and appraisal process
  • Perform other assignments as required and assigned by Deputy Director Finance and Administration from time to time.
Job Requirements
  • Master’s degree in HRM or equivalent.
  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration (HRM).
  • Knowledge in sound management systems,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of interaction with staff and media,
  • Registration as a member of IHRM(K);
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and team play.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Sound knowledge of labour laws and Employment Act;
  • At least five (5) years of progressive experience, two (2) of which must be in a managerial position
Case Officer 
CO – 01 JG KENAS/6 (1 Post)
Job Description Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director Certification, the overall responsibility will be to coordinate and promote provision of accreditation services to general testing and calibration laboratories, medical and clinical laboratories, certification bodies, inspection and verification bodies, proficiency test service providers as required by the organization in order to achieve the objectives of KENAS while ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
 
Key duties and responsibilities
  • Prepare and execute work plans and resources for proper management of accreditation activities.
  • Coordinate and manage assessment teams and act as a point of contact for customers.
  • Promote and market accreditation activities through client sensitization campaigns, training and public awareness programs.
  • Providing clear, consistent and timely information to organizations seeking accreditation.
  • Maintain and report on the performance of accredited conformity assessment bodies.
  • Maintain and report on the performance of the KENAS management system.
  • Participate at relevant accreditation forums.
  • Undertake assessments as required report periodically and timely on readiness of case files submission for decision making.
  • Provide periodic reports on delivery of KENAS objectives and work plans
  • Inform clients on proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparison programs.
  • Perform other related assignments as required and assigned by the Assistant Director(s)-Technical Services.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Master’s degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Attended quality management course(s)
  • Trained assessor in conformity assessment
  • Registered with relevant professional body
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Computer literacy especially in Enterprise Resource Planning integrated environment and Data Management System
