Global Bid Manager

As part of the broader Enterprise Operating model, the Safaricom Enterprise Business in partnership with the Vodafone Global Enterprise Africa are looking to set up a Sales and Services hub in Kenya serving the East African Region.
East Africa has been identified due to its highly skilled and highly educated workforce with an operating environment conducive to international business.
This partnership will not only position our Enterprise offering strategically to ensure growth and market dominance, but will also guarantee job creation.
We are pleased to announce the following exciting vacancies in the Vodafone Global Enterprise. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for persons who meet the criteria indicated below:

Role purpose;

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Operations, the job holder will manage global bid responses for VGE Africa in the African Market and beyond.

Key responsibilities will be;

  • Supporting the account team in building the Bid Strategy and then driving this through to completion;
  • Bringing thought leadership and experience of previous opportunities to the team to influence the Bid Strategy and approach to the customer;
  • Ensuring that the proper governance has been followed and that stakeholders have approved all risks;
  • Working closely with the account team, and directly with the customer, to understand their stated and underlying requirements in order to ensure that our solution meets their requirements and the value proposition is explained;
  • Build relationships in the business and be able to identify the right networks and people;
  • Proactively share best practice with the Bid Team and the wider Commercial Team so as to continuously improve;
  • Defining and owning the deal closure strategy & managing the negotiation team to ensure that there consistent approach to the negotiations;
  • Play a lead role in managing internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies;
  • Business related degree and relevant certification;
  • 5-6 years’ work experience in relevant area;
  • Experienced in managing complex bids and ideally is APMP Qualified to Foundation level (as a minimum);
  • Demonstrable experience of a structured approach to Bid Management, in line with the principles of the APMP is a requirement;
  • Experienced working with C Level (internal and customer);
  • Bid Managers must be capable and skilled at communicating to C Level, both in writing and verbally. It is essential that the positioning of the messages is matched to the audience;
  • Programme Management Experience;
  • Experience of working with Sales teams using formal Sales Methodology Practices;
  • Full driving licence;
