Head of Treasury

Ref: HT/09/13

Reporting To: Managing Director
Purpose: The incumbent will supervise and lead the treasury team in undertaking daily activities within the stipulated guidelines; and ensure that all related risks are managed adequately in all the trading activities in order to achieve the set revenue goals.
The Job Purpose
  • Develop strategies and policies for Treasury department in line with the Bank’s strategic direction.
  • Grow treasury trading business to include:
  • Forex trading – set and implement trading strategies to ensure maximum profitability
  • Local and Foreign currency bond trading – implement bond trading strategies (local and foreign currency denominated) to ensure maximum profitability in line with set targets.
  • Liquidity management.
  • Oversee the ALM desk activities and guide the bank on any balance sheet requirements.
  • Risk management in both FX and Bond trading activities.
  • Forecasting cash requirements and loan repayments
  • Investment of surplus cash balances in accordance with company’s policies
  • Team coaching and mentoring through performance management against agreed targets
  • Team training &development to ensure high competence and high performance levels.
  • Maintain complete and accurate departmental documentation of activities as required.
  • Manage risk controls within the Bank’s and regulatory standards, policies and practices and advice on control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.
  • Treasury product development and roll out
  • Drive Marketing of treasury products.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree in Business/Commerce related or Finance fields. Possession of an MBA, CPA (K) will be an added advantage.
  • Have good knowledge and solid understanding of:
  1. Treasury Operations
  2. General Banking Operations
  3. The Banking Act
  4. CBK Prudential Guidelines
  5. Financial reporting standards
  • Minimum eight (08) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior management level.
  • Outstanding track record of performance and achievement.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
Competences
  • Demonstrate skills in strategy development and execution.
  • Proven ability in relationship building through negotiation and networking

Head of Strategy

To support the implementation of initiatives designed and approved to help the bank realize the ambitious Growth plans, we are looking for a dynamic, proactive professional with strong credentials & relevant work experience to fill the above position:
 
Reporting To: Managing Director
 
Purpose: The incumbent is responsible for leading the overall formulation and implementation of the Bank’s strategic plan and budgets as well as development and monitoring of all aspects related to the strategic planning process to ensure fast-tracked growth of the Bank.
Summary of Responsibilities
He or she will be responsible and accountable for the facilitation and coordination of business wide strategy for Family Bank (in support of the strategic intent to become the best Bank in Kenya)
He / she will also assist Exco, Senior Leadership teams and the Strategy Committee of the Board in the identification, analysis and execution of strategic actions and strategic projects that have a substantial impact on both short and medium term performance of the business.
Manage strategic projects or work streams that will deliver new or revised business and financial strategies for FBL and have a positive impact on PBT.
Essential
It is essential that the successful candidate will come from a consultancy background or an office that has dealt with strategy and possess the following:
  • Proven research and analytical skills, including an understanding of key frameworks for general business analysis, market understanding (competitor, products, geographies, customers)
  • Finance (P&L, balance sheet, risk, shareholder returns and business valuation)
  • Proven project management skills – delivering high quality deliverables to tight deadlines covering key dependencies
  • Proven intellectual ability to understand different strategic and operational issues, scenarios and models, and their articulation (oral, written)
  • Proven communication and presentation skills (oral, written)Proven strong numeracy and verbal reasoning skills
  • Outstanding software analytical and presentational skills – strong Excel skills are central and critical to the role, as well as PowerPoint and Word. Access/database and statistical software knowledge advantageous
  • First class stakeholder management skills, with the ability to quickly gain trust and buy-in of senior stakeholders, and the application to build on these relationships over time and maximise the impact of the function as a whole

The person
The ideal candidate must poses the following:
  • Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Business Management or Finance related field; Masters In Strategic Management or related field highly desirable and any other relevant Professional Qualifications (ACIB, ACCA,CPA(K)
  • 10-15 years of experience including strategy crafting and implementation, new business development and implementation.
  • Experience in banking a plus but not mandatory.
Product Development Manager

Reporting to: Chief Marketing Manager
Liaises with Branch Management, Heads of Departments, Head Office Managers and Branch staff
 
Job Purpose:
To drive and deliver excellent business performance through continuous product development and innovation to satisfy evolving customer needs profitably.
The Job
  • Carrying out market research for new products and/or improvement of existing ones including upgrades and customization; as well as research on performance of existing products in the market
  • Conceptualization and development of new products that provide a competitive edge for Family Bank whilst maximizing commercial viability.
  • Preparation of documentation on products, both for internal use as well as external use
  • Identification of opportunities within existing and prospective customer base of Retail, Corporate and Institutional clients to package and offer Family Bank products
  • Continuous evaluation of existing products for relevance and viability
  • Actively participate in preparation for product launches and post-launch support
The Person:
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of Four (4) years relevant work experience in Product Development.
  • Understanding of the requisite legal framework, in particular the Banking Act and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) prudential guidelines and clearing procedures.
  • Understanding of banking Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework.
