Job Opportunity: Senior Program Officer
National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE) is a Kenyan NGO that provides highly customized sexual and reproductive health and social services using innovative Peer-Centered and community-driven behavioral interventions.
NOPE is a strategic partner in the APHIAPLUS KAMILI (Eastern and Central) project within a consortium led by JHPIEGO and funded by USAID.
APHIAPLUS KAMILI supports integrated service delivery and addresses the social determinants of health in the technical areas of HIV/AIDS Malaria, family planning, tuberculosis, and MNCH.
NOPE is seeking to recruit a Senior Program Officer to be stationed in Embu.
H/she will play the role of NOPE Regional Team Leader (APHIAPLUS KAMILI) providing technical expertise and support in program strategy development and implementation.
Specific areas of responsibility will include;
- Provide leadership in the program through co-ordination and supervision of program activities and supervision of staff in the program
- Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate program activities including writing technical reports for donors
- Manage activity budgets including processing relevant financial transactions
- Develop and promote partnerships and networking with relevant stakeholders including and not limited to local authorities, relevant government of Kenya ministries and NGOs
- Participate in needs assessments to identify capacity gaps among implementing partners
- Facilitate capacity building activities for the program implementation team, community structures, DHMT and other stakeholders.
- Representing the program in technical committees, district and municipal level in relation to program technical areas
- Conduct sensitization workshops and advocacy sessions for community leader and other stakeholders in collaboration with APHIA Plus partners
- Provide technical assistance to partner organizations on comprehensive, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Review the routine monitoring and evaluation data of the implementing partners in priority communities
- Develop/adopt relevant materials to support field activities
- Working with program staff to document and disseminate best practices and lessons learnt
- Provide regular follow-up and supervisory support to ensure quality of program in priority communities
- Participate in the relevant APHIA Plus technical team meetings within the region
- Ensures programme integration and growth by participating in NOPE Program and staff meetings and developing new program initiatives.

- Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS word, Excel and PowerPoint
Education/Experience:
- First degree in Social Science, Community Development, Public Health or related field with a minimum 5 years relevant working experience
- Experience working in donor funded programs, MOH systems and personnel and private sector foundations
- Experience in Behaviour Change and Communications (BCC) in HIV/AIDS
- Understanding of and experience in implementing the Kenya Community Health Strategy(CHS)
