Job Profile

• Provide strong and strategic leadership to the Corporation and facilitate achievement of set objectives and goals.
• Control and manage the day to day business of the Corporation.
• Ensure that the Concession is efficiently and effectively managed.
• Ensure that Rail Transport Services are profitably run and that the corporation realizes the planned rate of return on investment assets.
• Develop and submit to the Board of Directors proposal business plans and annual operating budgets for approval.
• Take leadership to ensure that all the Corporation held assets and facilities are properly maintained, improved and re-developed in order to realize better returns, highest level of operations, safety and efficiency.
• Establish proper internal monitoring systems, procedures and processes for optimal utilization and management of the financial, human and physical assets in order to meet operational, social and economic objectives of the Corporation.
• Implement Government and Board’s directives in a result oriented and timely manner.
• Provide linkages between the Government, the Board of Directors and the Management.
• Assist the Board to formulate and implement strategic framework that is consistent with overall growth objectives of the Corporation, the Vision 2030 national development goals and railway network development in the country.
• Engage stakeholders in the railway sector including the County Governments for purposes of delivering the railway strategic plan.
• Provide and cultivate a strong people oriented work environment that promotes productivity and result oriented culture in the Corporation.

• Should be a person of high integrity and should meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenya Constitution 2010.
• The ideal candidate must be a holder of a Bachelors degree from a recognized university in the field of Engineering, Management, Social Sciences, Economics, Business or Public Administration, Law, Finance or other related fields. A Master’s degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage. Where applicable, the applicant must be a registered member of the relevant professional body.
• A minimum of 10 years broad professional experience at senior management level in a large organization.
• Should have undergone Corporate Governance training from a recognized institution.
• Outstanding track record of performance and achievement.

• Highly developed business and commercial acumen.
• Strong interpersonal relations and networking.
