Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute (KEVEVAPI) is a State corporation established in 1990 under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
The  Institute is charged with the responsibility of production, manufacturing, research and marketing of veterinary vaccines.
The Institute’s Board of Management seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative, result oriented and experienced persons to fill the following vacant positions:

1. Chief Accountant

VPI. 13

One Post

Job profile:

Responsible for all matters relating to efficient, effective and sustainable engagement and utilization of the Institute’s financial resources.
The responsibility requires appropriate the development and implementation of high quality accounting and financial management systems that ensure adherence to planned and approved budgets for various operations and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • approving payments;
  • monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved budgets;
  • ensuring quality accounting and advisory services;
  • assisting in application of sound principles, systems and techniques in accounting for finances, assets, revenue, expenditure and costs;
  • facilitating computerisation of accounting systems;
  • supervise special funds including donor, programmes and projects funds;
  • Implement the financial strategic planning.
  • assist in application of GAAPs including the IFRS techniques in accounting for Institute’s finances, assets, revenue, expenditure and costs; management of accounting information which includes co-ordination and rationalization of estimates, budgetary control, annual appropriation and fund account, cash flow control and cost analysis; preparation of final accounts;
  • responding to audit queries; and supervising staff in accounts unit.
Qualifications:
  • Served in the grade of Principal Accountant for at least three (3) years;
  • Part III of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya its equivalent from a recognised Institution;
  • Masters degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or their equivalent;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • shown merit and ability in work performance and results.
  • Comply with the requirements of Chapter six of the constitution.
Competences:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions
  • Good interpersonal and team building skills necessary to drive initiatives and achieve results
Remuneration
The salary scale attached to the post is in the Institutes’ harmonized scale of VPI.13 plus other allowances commensurate to this position applicable in the Institute.

2. Senior Internal Auditor

Job profile:

Reporting to the Board, the incumbent will be responsible for the Internal Audit function in ensuring that the management policies and procedures are adhered to and that internal controls are effective

Key Responsibilities

  • reviewing of internal control systems;
  • verifying operations and activities on the utilization of the Institute’s resources;
  • carrying out audit checks  to ensure validity and accuracy;
  • interpreting financial policies for sound auditing and control;
  • undertaking special audit investigations as may be required;
  • preparing audit reports and follow up on implementation of recommendations; interpreting the regulations of the Institute pertaining to financial control and management;
  • implementing audit tasks and analyzing outcomes and prepare report on required changes;
  • undertaking fraud investigations to ensure that the operational plan and procedures are implemented;
  • developing and implementing audit management systems;
  • carrying out risk assessment and develop management guidelines; and
  • preparation and implementation of annual audit plans.
Qualifications:
  • served as Internal Auditor for at least three (3) years;
  • Part III of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya its equivalent from a recognised Institution;
or
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting Option/Finance) or its equivalent from a recognised Institution; Plus Part II of CPA
  • Comply with the requirements of Chapter six of the constitution.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions
  • Good interpersonal and team building skills necessary to drive initiatives and achieve results
  • Computer literate.

3. Research and Development Officer I

Job Profile:

The Research and Development Officer I will be deployed in the new Research and Development Unit and responsible to the Director in charge of Technical Services.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and initiating research project proposals;
  • Designing experiments;
  • Implementing research activities;
  • Assisting in the co-ordination of research activities;
  • Participating in problem identification surveys,
  • Planning and analyzing intervention measures;
  • Developing and validating diagnostic tools and technologies
  • Preparing and communicating research findings and technical/scientific publications; and transfer of technology.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree  in on in any of the following disciplines:- Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health, Applied Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Laboratory Technology or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
  • Masters degree in an appropriate discipline or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;
  • At least three (3) years experience in the field of Research.

  • Good interpersonal and team building skills necessary to drive initiatives and achieve results
  • shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

4. Engineering Technician I

Job profile
To provide professional, competent and efficient servicing and maintenance of the vaccines production plant cold rooms and other equipments.
This includes maintenance and servicing of the existing plant and machinery, installations and commissioning new equipments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection, repair and maintenance of the cold rooms, other plant and equipment.
  • Inspection of works.
  • Installation and testing of the equipments.
  • maintenance
  • design and construction of simple structures and inspection of works;
  • preparation of designs and cost estimation;
Qualifications:
  • KCSE mean grade “C” or its equivalent.
  • Diploma in Engineering in any of the following fields: – mechanical, electrical, electronic, refrigeration and air Conditioning or building from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer applications
Competences:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions
  • Good interpersonal and team building skills necessary to drive initiatives and achieve results
  • Computer literate.

5. Engineering Technicians III

Two Posts

Job Profile:

To provide professional, competent and efficient servicing and maintenance of the vaccines production plant and equipments.
This includes maintenance and servicing of the existing plant and machinery, installations and commissioning new equipments.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection, repair and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment.
  • Inspection of works.
  • Installation and testing of plant and equipment.
  • Boiler operation and maintenance
  • design and construction of simple structures and inspection of works;
  • preparation of designs for buildings, plant and equipment and cost estimation;
Qualifications:
  • KCSE mean grade “C” or its equivalent.
  • Certificate in mechanical/electrical/electronic/refrigeration and air conditioning/ Building/Engineering Technician certificate or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Competences:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions
  • Good interpersonal and team building skills necessary to drive initiatives and achieve results
  • Computer literate.
