The County Public Service Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified Kenyans to fill the following positions in the Ministry of Health:
1. County Director of Health
Job Group “R”
(1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will be answerable to the County Chief Officer Health for all technical and administrative services of the department.
Specific duties will be:
- Effective coordination of activities of the Health Technical services;
- Oversee the formulation and implementation of Health policies and strategic health programmes in the County;
- Identify impediments and constraints to the implementation of Policies and programmes; and
- Management of the training function in liaison with other Health training institutions and planning, development, utilization and management of Human resource.
Qualifications and Requirements
For appointment to this grade one MUST:
- Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB. ChB) degree from a recognized university;
- Be a holder of a Master of Medicine (M.Med) or Public Health from a recognized institution;
- Be registered with the Kenya Medical and Dentist Board;
- Have experience of at least 5 years in a senior management position in a busy Referral hospital, County or National level;
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution by availing the following: Certificate of Good Conduct, Tax compliance certificate form KRA, Clearance from EACC and Clearance from HELB; and
- Be computer literate
2. Registered Community Health Nurse III (KRCHN III)

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities at this level will be as follows:
- Offer quality nursing services to patients/clients in health facilities and community;
- Ensure adequate supply of health commodities and proper use;
- Prompt submission of monthly reports to the relevant authorities;
- Responds appropriately to emergencies and disaster services; and
- Coordinating nursing services.
Qualifications / Requirements
For appointment to this grade one MUST:
- Be a Diploma holder in Community health nursing from Kenya Medical Training College or any other recognized Institution;
- Be ready to be deployed to any part of Bungoma County;
- Adhere to the nursing ethics;
- Be ready to work with other health team members;
- Be registered/licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya; and
- Be computer literate
3. Public Health Officer III (PHO III)
Job Group “H”

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities at this level will be as follows:
- Offer promotive health services;
- Offer preventive health services; and
- Carry out Public Health Inspections.
Qualification / Requirements
For appointment to this grade one MUST:
- Be a Diploma holder in Public Health from a recognized and relevant institution; and
- Be computer literate
4. Medical Laboratory Technologist III

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities at this level will be as follows:
- Performing and interpreting relevant laboratory tests; and
- Cleaning and sterilizing laboratory glass ware, surfaces and equipment;
- Documenting and receiving samples for analysis; preparing laboratory reagents;
Qualifications / Requirements
For appointment to this grade one MUST:
- Be a Diploma holder in medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution;
- Be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists & Technicians Board (KMLTB)
- Be computer literate; and
- Adhere to the Code of Regulations.
5. Medical Social Worker III

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities at this level will be as follows: An officer at this level will be a member of a health team addressing the psychosocial effects as related to patient’s diagnosis, prognosis and future resettlement, and counseling of patients especially in cases associated with pandemic diseases, mental illness, HIV/Aids, epilepsy e.t.c.
Qualifications/Requirements
For appointment to this grade one MUST:
- Be a Diploma holder in Community Development and Counseling;
- Have Good Public Relations; and
- Be ready to carry out field work.
6. Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse III (KECHN III)

The duties and responsibilities at this level will be as follows:
- Offer quality nursing services to patients and clients;
- Coordinates nursing services;
- Ensures proper use of supplies; and
- Prompt submission of reports.
Qualifications / Requirements
For appointment to this grade one MUST:
- Be a Certificate holder in Enrolled Community Health Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College or any other recognized Institution;
- Be enrolled by a regulatory body of Kenya (Nursing Council of Kenya); and
- Be computer literate
7. Plaster Technician III
Job Group “G”

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities at this level will be as follows:
- Proper applications of rehabilitative services;
- Application and removal of plaster and traction;
- Recording of procedure carried out on patients;
- Counseling patients;
- Ordering plaster and other Supplies: and
- Assisting in planning and organizing orthopedic care.
Qualifications / Requirements
For appointment to this grade one MUST:
- Be a Certificate holder in Plaster technician; and
- Be registered by a regulatory body.
