Position: Transmission Design Engineer
Reporting to: Transmission Design Manager
Range: R3
Department: IT & Network
Role Purpose: Responsible for Engineering Planning, and Designing g of Microwave and Optical Transmission Networks
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and Design Transmission Networks – Microwave & Optical Backbone, Metro, FTTB, FTTH
- Capacity planning
- Transmission systems database & inventory management
- Provide Optical E2E Transmission solution for GSMMSAN as per roll out strategy.
- Provide Backhaul solution to submarine cable.
- Technical site surveys for transmission network
- Submarine Capacity planning – RFF and RFI
- Manage Submarine Capacity System database & inventory
- Design Submarine Capacity Cross- connect and Backhaul Systems
- TKL Point of contact for capacity application on the Submarine Cable
- Manage Capacity Activation on Submarine capacity, ensure provisioning and E2E testing
- TKL Point of contact with other Carriers including IBNF for Capacity activation, provisioning and E2E testing
Academic / Professional Qualifications
- University Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering
- Experience in Transmission Networks Planning & Design for at least 2 years
- Software: MS – Office Suite, MS- Project, MS-Visio;
- Tools: Optical planning tools such as VPI, ONM etc, MapInfo, Google Earth/Map, Pathloss 4.0, NEP Mobinets
- Knowledge in MW, SDH, NG_SDH, WDM/OTN
Key Competencies:

- Language Skill : Swahili and English
