AccuCirc Study Clinicians Jobs at NRHS in Kisumu Kenya October 2014

 

Nyanza Reproductive Health Society (NRHS) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Kisumu dedicated to improving the reproductive health of men and women. 
NRHS has a variety of research projects, it runs support groups for PLWHA and MARPS, and it is working with the Ministry of Health to provide both adult and early infant male circumcision services in Kenya. 
NRHS is currently seeking to hire two qualified clinicians (nurses or Clinical Officers) to participate in a study of the AccuCirc device for early infant male circumcision (EIMC).
 
Job Title: AccuCirc Study Clinician

Location: Kisumu and surrounding areas

Reporting to: NRHS Scientific Director and Principal Investigator
Contract Type: One year, renewable (project duration at least two years)
Salary: Commensurate with experience/education

Job Description:

  • Become qualified as an AccuCirc practitioner.
  • Perform EIMC using the AccuCirc device.
  • Ensure adherence to study protocols and sound research practice, including maintaining confidentiality of clients, accurate and timely recording of all study data, timely reporting of adverse events, and working with data managers and other members of the study team to ensure accurate study data.
  • Ensure quality of medical services following good clinical practices.
  • Become capable of training others.
  • Assist with community outreach and infant circumcision education and mobilization activities.
  • Be a strong team member, able to work with limited supervision.
  • Be proactive and reliable.
  • Be intellectually curious and devoted to evidence based practice.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or in Nursing
  • Licensed to practice in Kenya.
  • At least three years job experience
  • Previous research experience
  • Good communication skills, including fluency in spoken and written English
  • Experience with infant circumcision and/or theatre experience
  • Neonatal and child health experience
  • Newborn basic life support certification preferred
