Principal Service Engineer – System Developer

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Product & Services Development Department within the Technology Division.
In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Service Development the purpose of the position will include
- activities relating to translating user requirements specification into technical solutions through systems analysis, architectural design, development of technical documentation for RFx processes;
- developing workflow documentation;
- providing consultative support between commercial and technical departments;
- identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability;
- assisting with implementation and other functions such as recommending equipment purchases, modifying system configuration, changing systems specifications and managing product and service evolution process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirement specification – eliciting & analyzing user requirements;
- Architectural design – develop high-level system architectural design to meet user requirements;
- Develop – work as a technical lead/resource in the system implementation process including system verification & validation;
- Best Practices – introduce for adoption current industry best practices and technologies in system development;
- Coordinate a team of system developers in definition of functional requirements for development or implementation;
- Liaise with system suppliers in software and hardware release roadmaps;
- Track software advisories and releases to ensure system integrity;
- Competence development – conduct coaching, mentoring, knowledge transfer sessions and training plan recommendations.
Role Requirements;
- BSc. IT/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Other related technical degree;
- Candidate should have at least 4-6 years of experience in commercial system development;
- Extensive experience in business analysis/system engineering /system architecture;
- Extensive experience of internetworking & GSM/UMTS technologies – TCP/IP, SS7, SIP, MPLS, BSS;
- Experience with Operating Systems (OS) environments – Solaris, Linux, Other UNIX OS’s;
- Experience in system life-cycle development (SDLC) methodologies;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Preferred experience in documenting technical specifications and solution proposal;
- Preferred experience in implementation of telecom grade systems.
