EHS & Maintenance Officer Job Vacancy in Mombasa Kenya Today 2013

 

A Company based in Mombasa is looking for experienced qualified persons to fill the position of EHS & Maintenance Officer.
 
Responsibilities:
Co-ordinate and implement EHS programs to ensure compliance with corporate policies and reporting requirements
Periodically conduct site audits and walk-about to assess level of compliance to policy, procedure, standards, various corrective actions and general level of housekeeping

Investigate all incidents/ near misses, report, recommend and review corrective and preventive actions

Co-ordinate activities of the Health and Safety Committee to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2007
Convene and conduct monthly safety meetings and trainings
Prepare and co-ordinate a preventive maintenance program for all equipment to prevent breakdowns and significantly reduce safety risk
Monitor internal and external maintenance jobs to ensure all equipment and infrastructure under maintenance is quickly brought up and running to minimize financial loss and also ensure all work however urgent is done safely
Provide a safety induction to all external contractors before starting work on company premises
Management of the accredited and statutory standards by conducting internal audits / self-assessments and addressing/closing the non-conformities for compliance
Investigate and respond to customer complaints on product safety
 
Skills / Requirements:
  • University Degree or College Diploma in a relevant field of Environment, Occupational Health and Safety and/or Business Management/Administration
  • KCSE Certificate or its recognized equivalent, with a minimum aggregate of C+ with passes in English and Mathematics
  • Three (3) years practical experience in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety and/or Maintenance.
  • Computer literacy and experience in MS operating systems and applications
  • Working knowledge of any ISO standards such as ISO 9001:2008; ISO 22000:2005; FSSC 22000; ISO 14000; ISO 18001 and ISO 26000 is an added advantage
  • Lead auditor for any of the above ISO standards is also an added advantage
