Vacancy: Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic

Overall Responsibility: As a member of the Maintenance Department, the incumbent has a responsibility to ensure that all scheduled work is completed in a safe and timely manner following safe work procedures and standards for mobile plant and equipment maintenance.
 
In your new role you will:
  • Maintain and repair mining equipment
  • Perform fault finding and diagnostics of mining equipment
  • Ensure high levels of mining equipment availability
  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Record all work done in the work order system and all parts used in carrying out daily duties
  • Develop teamwork and ensure team performance
  • Ensure effective communications within and between shifts
To succeed in this role you will have:
  • A committed and positive attitude to safety
  • A Certificate/Trade qualification as a Mechanic or Auto Electrician from a recognized institution
  • Completed an Apprenticeship as either a Heavy Earthmoving Mechanic or as Auto Electrician
  • A sound and demonstrable understanding of Engines, Transmissions, Drive trains, Hydraulics and Auto Electrics
  • Experience with CAT Electronic Technician (ET) CAT SIS
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of Heavy Mobile Equipment.
  • Proven experience in leading a mining maintenance crew
  • Demonstrable experience with Caterpillar Mining and Construction Equipment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Successfully worked as part of a team.
  • Sound computer skills
  • A current and clean Kenya Driver’s License
