Profile Introduction
Our client a leading insurance company in the region seeks to recruit a Senior Human Resource Officer for their Nairobi office.
The holder of the position will be reporting to the Human Resource Manager
The overall purpose of the role is to:
- Ensure that all human resource needs for the business function(s) are met and aligned to the HR objectives within the organization’s operational objectives.
- Coach and advice line management regarding people management and human resources issues
- Contribute to the development of a performance driven culture in the organization by driving people to improve quality of their performance and meet the Company’s objectives as a whole
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in HR, Education, Business or equivalent
- Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management
- 4 – 5 years experience in HR
- A HR Generalist
- Sound knowledge of Functional HR Expertise, including the Kenya Employment Law & Labour regulations, Compensation, Performance and Talent Management
Job Specification – Senior Human Resource Officer
Define & Execute HR Strategy:
- Provide support to the HR Manager in driving the creation & execution of the People Strategies & Plans that attract, develop and retain employees to support the organisational short and long term business needs.
- Drive competitive advantage and address opportunities and threats.
- Coordinate and execute manpower planning for the specific business functions
Performance & Talent Management:
- Ensure Performance and Talent Management drive the achievement of business goals through objective and development plan setting, performance appraisals and talent development.
- Implement succession planning / talent management plans that support business goals.
- Ensure People Managers use tools effectively to assist individual and team performance improvement at all levels
Employee Engagement:
- Establish and maintain effective win – win working relationships with employees and their representatives through an environment that fosters communication and cooperation.
- Promote and foster a culture and environment that is productive, open, empowering, safe and equitable
- Coach others to behave and make decisions in line with the Client’s Core Values
HR Functional Services
- Ensure Line Managers and employees understand the HR model and can quickly and efficiently access solutions.
- Collaborate with Line Managers within Business Functions to ensure initiatives and projects are designed and implemented that support business people plans.
- Provide objective and timely feedback to them on the quality of HR service to ensure the overall HR service to the business function meets or exceeds agreed standards
Functional Development
- Work as part of cross functional HR teams to develop HR practice and process developments that contribute to enhancing the HR contribution to the business
Administration & Facilities Management:
- Oversee and administer the Administration and Facilities management function of the team
Competencies
- Business Acumen (Understanding of the business, performance drivers and long term direction)
- Understand Financial & Non-Financial Business results & people impact.
- Build engagement & commitment (via influencing, coaching, presentation and facilitation skills).
- Accreditation with relevant Professional body and maintains links with external networks (IHRM, FKE, DIT etc.)
- Consultancy skills to develop organisational and team solutions to business issues.
- Create, analyse and utilise metrics to monitor HR effectiveness and support business decisions
- Ability to work as a part of a multifunctional team and influence the organizational strategy
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently
- Highly developed communication skills: both written and verbal
