Our client is a well-established company serving a wide range of clientele in the service industry. They seek to hire an experienced Credit Controller to ensure that overdue debtors are kept to a minimum and maintained to a high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities for the Credit Controller Job
- Keeping debtor days within agreed levels.
- Actively pursuing overdue debts by phone, emails & letters to ensure payment within agreed timescales and escalating difficult cases promptly
- Sending out monthly debtors’ statements/letters
- Reconciling debtors accounts and ensuring accuracy of balances at all times
- Continuous improvement of credit control systems
- Maintaining a day-to-day record of credit control activities for each delinquent account
- Identifying changes in payment patterns and taking action to avert delinquency
- Handling disputed invoices expeditiously and negotiating to bring payment within the agreed terms
- Responding promptly and completely to both debtors and internal enquiries
- Proposing and preparing files for external debt recovery
- Providing ad-hoc reports as and when requested
Credit Controller Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting option), or equivalent
- Must have at least 2 years’ experience in Credit control
- A self-starter with strong organizational & time management skills who is pro-active and can set and achieve goals with demonstrated ability to work under pressure, diarize, priorities and follow through tasks to their logical conclusion
- Knowledge of lawful debt recovery strategies
- Familiarity with accounting principles, double entry, debtors’ ledger maintenance and remittance advice allocation
- Excellent communication skills at all levels, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook and Word (good letter writing & mail merging skills)
- Outgoing and confident personality with demonstrable ability to fearlessly deal with all kinds of personalities at all levels
- High standard of numeracy, accuracy with attention to detail and ability to recognize and escalate potential risks
- A team player with a flexible approach and willingness to learn
