VCT Counsellor Job at Shining Hope for Community

Location: Mathare, Nairobi
Reports to: Medical Coordinator
Hours: Mon- Fri, 8:00am to 5:00pm

The main purpose of the role is to create awareness and educate the community about voluntary testing and Counselling.

Duties for the VCT Counsellor Job

• Counsel and test clients in line with the current guidelines
• To keep accurate VCT records
• Provide ongoing counselling and make relevant referrals for ongoing support to PHC, TB, Support groups and Posttest clubs
• Maintain current government policies, HIV/AIDS related policies and guidelines and observe VCT protocols
• Support VCT work plan development and implementation
• Ensure safety of assigned equipment
• Maintain a clean and work friendly environment
• Maintain inventory necessary for VCT functioning at all times
• Prepare and submit timely monthly, quarterly, annually and any other VCT required reports
• Participate in outreaches and carry out door to door testing
• Any other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor

VCT Counsellor Job Requirements

• Certificate in Voluntary testing and counselling from a recognized institution
• Communication skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Record keeping
• Confidentiality
