It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles.

The ICRC Logistic Support Centre in Nairobi (Industrial Area) is seeking an experienced & highly motivated individual to fill the position of Import-Export Officer.

Import-Export Officer Job Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and processing of Customs documents, shipping documents for import/export and transit cargo;
  • Liaising with clearing agents and suppliers on customs cargo clearance/documentation matters;
  • Maintain a close relationship with stakeholders/local authorities to ensure that customs clearance is completed efficiently and ensure that new import/export regulations are well anticipated;
  • Ensure correct classification and declaration of all Dangerous goods being shipped out of Logistics Support Centre(LSC) in accordance with DGR regulations;
  • Expediting/route follow up of transit documents to ensure quick discharge of transit bond once goods exit the country;
  • Giving greenlight instructions to the field and arranging for tax exemption application,IDF KEBS certificates;
  • Establish weekly progress reports on status of shipments and distribute them according to requirements;

Requirements for the Import-Export Officer Job

  • Holder of a Degree in Logistics or its equivalent from a recognized university;
  • East African Customs Freight Forwarding practicing certificate (KRATI);
  • KRA Simba Trade X training;
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a similar field;
  • Advanced Computer Skills;
  • Excellent command of English;
  • Valid driving license;
  • High sense of integrity;
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and make decisions;
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Good negotiation and communications skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team;
