Brookside Africa Limited, a leading market player in the dairy sector, is seeking to recruit a highly qualified, committed, motivated and experienced individual for the position of Technical Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager Manufacturing

The Technical Manager will be responsible for the development of a maintenance schedule and management of the day-to-day activities of the technical department to ensure constant availability of calibrated machines and infrastructure to support the manufacturing department in meeting production targets and quality standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain calibration of all instruments and measuring accessories throughout the processes required to monitor CCPs, identified PRPs, OPRPs and inventories.
  • Maintain good hygiene in the utility area and at the work place by ensuring that hygiene principles are in place and they meet the IMS manual guidelines.
  • Liaise with other departmental heads for an efficient running of the operations and training staff in order to increase understanding of the entire process.
  • Liaise with stores for spares, procurement of fuel and consumables.
  • Design maintenance programs and scheduled checks on machinery and parts.
  • Ensure that all instruments and machines are fault-free, oiled, cleaned and recalibrated at all times.
  • Overhaul and replace parts according to the schedule.
  • Responsible for new installations and commissioning.
  • Effective energy management.
  • Respond immediately to machinery breakdowns at all times, assess problems and make decisions in consultation with the General Manager.
  • Analyse, generate and present daily, weekly, monthly or yearly performance reports or any other report as may be required by management.
  • Take responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of safety requirements by law and company policy.
  • Lead activities of the staff in the support of production of quality products in accordance with work instructions and company policies to ensure quality and safe products.
  • Ensure that Plant machinery & infrastructure are guarded to enhance safety & security and co-ordinate external service providers to ensure the required standards are met during repairs and new installations.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate must have a degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, with a proven track record of at least eight years of practical working experience in a food or beverage processing industry.

Must have good management and leadership skills as well as good communication, analytical and trouble shooting skills.
