Vacancy: Senior Program Specialist (Soft Skills Specialist)

RTI is currently seeking staff for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Kenya Youth Workforce Program (KYWP) in Kenya that aims to enhance employability of Kenyan youth (Ages 18-35) for increased wage and self-employment, for underemployed youth who have not completed secondary school.

The KYWP is a 5 year activity that will result in increased workforce competitiveness in the sectors targeted by this program.

The Senior Program Specialist (Soft Skills Specialist) will be responsible for technical leadership and oversight for activities related to increasing the opportunities for practical learning and applied soft skills acquisition for youth, such that they are better prepared for successful entry into their respective careers. 
He/She will support, motivate and challenge the youth to identify their own needs to help them maximize the chances of finding employment, tailored to individual needs, through a variety pathways including education, training, work placements and volunteering using personalized diagnostic skills.

Qualifications: 
  • Applicants will possess a minimum of a Master’s degree and 6 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Education and related field with 10 years’ experience.
  • Prior experience with USAID contracts is a plus; 
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in soft skills development, curriculum development, positive youth development, and related support services for youth and marginalized/at-risk youth required.
  • Experience in workforce development or youth activities required. 
  • Previous experience in curricula and/soft skills module development is highly desired. 
  • Must have strong English written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Applicants must exhibit a flexible work attitude: the ability to work productively in a team environment within a matrix organization. 
  • They must also be able to work well independently to meet unexpected demands. This position does not attract international allowances.
